    ACTIVE AND PASSIVE

    VOICE
    (PAST TENSES)
    PAST INDEFINATE TENSE
    FORMULA
    ACTIVE: Subject+Verb2+Object
    PASSIVE: Subject +Was/Were+Verb3+by+Object

    • EXAMPLE: • EXAMPLE:

     NEGATIVE
    ACTIVE : I did not study Urdu.
    PASSIVE: Urdu was not study by me.

     INTROGATIVE
    ACTIVE : Did I like mangoes?
    PASSIVE: Were mangoes liked by me?
    PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE
    • FORMULA:
    ACTIVE: Subject+ was/were+Verb1+ing+object
    PASSIVE: Subject+
    was/were+being+verb3+object
    • EXAMPLE:

    ACTIVE: Was Zartash playing cricket?
    PASSIVE: Was cricket being played by Zartash?
    PAST PERFECT TENSE
     FORMULA
    ACTIVE: Subject+Had+Verb3+Object
    PASSIVE: Subject+had been+ Verb3+Object

    EXAMPLE

    ACTIVE: He had played football. ACTIVE: She had written a book.

    PASSIVE: Football had been played by PASSIVE: A book had been written by her.

    ACTIVE: Ali had not finished work.
    PASSIVE: Work had not been finished by Ali.

     INTROGATIVE
    ACTIVE: Had I written a letter?
    PASSIVE: Had a letter been written by me?
    PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE
    FORMULA:
    ACTIVE: Subject+ had been +Verb1+ing+Object
    PASSIVE: Subject+had been+being+Verb3+Object
    EXAMPLE
