Edison born?

Thomas Alva Edison was born on 11th


February 1847 in a village called Milan
in Ohio, which is in the United States
of America.
Thomas Edison’s childhood &
his education
He attended his school for three months.
His mother continued is education.
Teaching him reading, writing and
arithmetic. She also read to him from well-
known English writer.

Edison earned a job selling newspaper, apples and


candies in on the Detroit and Port Huron branch of
Grand Trunk Railroad when he was only 12 years
old. He soon sell newspaper which
he printed and edited.

Thomas Edison saves a child

Thomas Edison got his first job by accident when he saved a 3


year-old boy from being hit by a train. The boy’s father was so
grateful that he gave Thomas a job as a telegraph operator!
For next four years, he travelled thousand of miles as a

Thomas Edison’s First Important
Invention Thomas Edison’s first important
invention was completed in 1877
when he was thirty. It made him
famous.

This invention was called the phonograph. It was a


machine that recorded sound using a needle
moving on tinfoil. Then, it could play the sound
back through a large horn.

was delighted when the

Thomas had six children altogether.

His daughter Madeleine was

have a career in science
at the time.

His son Theodore did study science and


created some inventions of his own.

Thomas Edison is most well-
known for his work on the
electric light bulb.

Other people had started developing lights that worked by


electricity.

He was not the first person to produced light bulb. He developed


this incandescent lamp or light bulb, in 1879. But his design
proved popular because it gave off a moderate amount of light
and lasted a long time.

He always fascinated by how things worked and I came up


with many clever ideas.
