Research Title:

INTRODUCTION:
The adoption of Covid-19 has resulted in several educational
modifications. The worldwide pandemic has led to the formation of
guidelines that have altered the way instructors teach and interact
with their students and families. This scenario necessitates a
rethinking of academic progress and the abrupt shift in class
delivery from face-to-face to virtual owing to the COVID-19
pandemic have caused instructors unable to adapt from traditional
pedagogy to proactive web - based learning methodology

Research Title:

INTRODUCTION:
Furthermore, the University of Cagayan Valley is adopting a virtual
distance learning using the Ms. Teams or learning management systems
used by the school in conducting quizzes, recitation, performance
tasks/activities, assignments, and periodic examination/summative tests.
Moreover, the University of Cagayan Valley with regards to traditional
physical education teaching at the period when we still have a face to face is
mostly based on demonstration or, more often, execution. However, the
researchers will want to identify the problems and challenges encountered
by physical education teachers and instructors when teaching physical
education courses in a virtual environment.

RESEARCH GAP:
1. This research looked into the difficulties experienced
by instructors when conducting virtual physical
education in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic,
which is still ongoing today.
2. The approaches and methods might be useful for
future physical education teachers.
3. Are still the approaches and procedure they employ to
provide physical education efficient?.

 According to Fernandes, A.J., (2020) The Covid-19 pandemic has had
significant social impacts, such as the sudden interruption of basic education
activities in Brazil, due to the need for social isolation.
 According to Centeio, E., (2021) physical education teachers’ perceptions of
implementing online physical education during the COVID-19 pandemic as
well as to explore their needs with regard to support for future teaching
experiences.
 According to Fernandez, I.L., 2021 The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the
educational landscape worldwide. One year after the disease outbreak,
blended learning, which combines distance and face-to-face learning,
became an alternative to fully online learning to address the demands of
ensuring students’ health and education.

consideration of the learners in rural areas where the internet inaccessible for
online learning, Modular Learning modality is currently used by all public schools
in the Philippines.
 According to Belleza, S., Ompoc, R., Vestil3, C., (2021) Given that distance
education has been primarily based on the use of digital technologies such as
email, online courses and document-sharing platforms, the crisis has highlighted
the need to develop teachers’ digital literacy.
 According to Varea, V., (2020) Physical education (PE) has been traditionally
considered as a practical and ‘hands-on’ subject in schools, where close proximity
and physical contact is common, particularly in Spain which has a high proximity
culture.

 According to Wesley, O., Manolis, A., Niamh O.B., Marcos O. Martins, A.D., Kyriaki, M.,
(2020) The present study, using a sample of Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE)
representatives from five Higher Education European institutions (England, Finland,
Greece, Ireland, and Portugal) sought to investigate the proposed measures of change
required for programmed delivery during the academic year of 2020–21
 According to Jones, E., (2017) Online physical education (OLPE) presents a unique set of
challenges in translating traditional physical education to a digital space, all while meeting
the same benchmarks, curriculum, and assessment standards of traditional courses.
Currently, limited research exists investigating how physical educators are formally trained
to deliver content online.
 According to Aguinaldo J. C., (2021) The sudden switch in the delivery of lessons from face
to face to online due to the coronavirus-19 pandemic has left educators with difficulty
transitioning their traditional pedagogy to active online learning pedagogy.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE


The researchers will strictly abide to the ethical and legal
standards in the conduct of this study. Research Ethics Clearance
will be sought from the University’s Institutional Review Board
(IRB) prior to the conduct of the study. Permission to conduct the
study will also be sought from the University President down to
the Vice President Academic Affair, down to Custodian thru the
Dean of the School of School of Liberal Arts and Teachers
Education before data collection will commence. When consent is
given, the researchers will identify the respondents through the
assistance of the Director, Human Resource Development.

After which, consent will be sought from the respondents thru a
Prior Informed Consent form after an explanation will be made by
the researchers of the nature and purpose of the study and
confidentiality will be ensured throughout the conduct of the
study. The inclusion criteria for this study will include informed
consent signed by the participants; willingness to share their lived
experiences and their commitment to attend follow up dialogues.

After confirmation of consent, the researchers will gather the


needed data during the respondents’ most convenient time
through the use of the questionnaire.

The respondents’ profile with respect to Age, Gender, No. of Years in


Teaching, Highest Educational Attainment, No. of Subject Assignments,
Weekly Workload and Monthly Salary, and their assessment on the challenges
encountered by the Physical Education Teachers in teaching PE Subjects
during the New Normal in conducting Quizzes, Realistic Recitation,
Performance Tasks/Activities, Periodic Examination/Summative Tests, will be
analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, percentage
distribution, and weighted means.

DATA ANALYSIS

To identify the significant difference on the challenges encountered by the


respondents in teaching PE subjects during the new normal as assessed by the
respondents when grouped according to category, and the significant
difference in the challenges encountered by the Physical Education Teachers
in teaching PE subjects during the New Normal as assessed by the
respondents’ when grouped according to their profile variables, Analysis Of
Variance (ANOVA) will be utilized.

Moreover, Pearson r will be used in determining the difference between the


respondents’ assessment on the challenges encountered by the respondents in
teaching PE subjects during the New Normal.
