    CONSULTING - WHAT IS IT LIKE? minutes

    A career in consulting can be very rewarding if you are focused on helping others in a business context and you
    have something to offer your customers.

    It may not be as rewarding if you are inclined to want to build something that lasts and that you are part of an
    ongoing basis as companies traditionally want to get rid of consultants as quickly as possible and transition to
    internal staff members.

    Consultancy typically entails lots of project management, document production, workshop facilitation and
    planning, deliverable production and quality assurance. This can be applied to a number of verticals and
    horizontals within industry and public sectors, business processes and organisational models.

    Typically, you have to be numerate and, increasingly more so recently, comfortable with data.

    Consultants can also be employed to undertake creative work where data and numeracy are less important but still
    helpful.
