Introduction

Drive Test
RF drive testing is a test that allows a mobile operator to monitor, troubleshoot, tune, and optimize the
radio network to improve mobile network coverage, capacity and Quality of Service (QoS). During drive
tests, RF engineers take field measurements while driving on vehicles equipped with specialized RF tools
within the cell coverage area.

The vehicle does not really matter, a drive test can be performed using a motorcycle or bicycle on the
road. You can also perform drive test for any specific spot or inside the high-rise building or shopping
complex by walking when it is called “Walk Test”. Moreover, when you do drive test in rivers or canals by
boat then we say it’s “Boat Test”.
