Lighting is a critical in creating the mood of
each scene in the play, high lighting a dramatic
moment, signaling the entrance of a character,
focusing attention on a specific spot-on stage
or even providing the blanket of darkness for
set and prop changes.
COSTUME DESIGNER
The actors and actresses must look
believable in their roles, and much of
this is owed to the costume designer
& deliberates on the character’s main
attire.
SOUND DESIGNER
The sound designer serves a vital role in
creating and enhancing the atmosphere
of the performance.
PRODUCTION
MANAGER
Coordinating all the complex
behind the scenes details of
staging a play is the
production manager.
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Shadows the play’s director throughout
the entire production process. Ensuring
that every instruction from the director
is properly executed.
CHOREOGRAPHER
In cases where a play involves
dance in certain scenes, a
choreographer is included in the
production team.
MAKEUP DESIGNER
The makeup designer works closely
with the costume designer to achieve
a suitable look. It makes the actors
look real and believable based on
their emotions, age, personality as
well as the time and place of the
events of the play.

OF STAGE PLAY
The visual elements of a play are things that appeal
and give a sensory experience to the audience such
as the stage setting, lighting, costume, and props. It
may also include the composition and physical
relationship of the performers on stage and with
the audience through striking displays and
spectacle.

What is the most important
thing in a stage production?
COMMUNICATION
is the act of giving, receiving,
& sharing information.
The class will be divided into 3 groups and each
group must imagine that they are part of a
production team. Each group are about to produce
a musical play entitled “TYPHOON MAWAR: A
Precautionary Measures Before and After
Typhoon”. Your group task must choose one role
in a stage production and perform your role
according to their respective tasks.
Pick one on the following role to perform:
Costume Designer: Sketch or draw a costume of the said
musical play.
Playwright: Write a short skit on the precautionary
measures before or after typhoon.
Sound Designer: Compose a song for the said musical play.
Set Designer: Make a stage layout of the said musical play.
Choreographer: Choreograph at least 1 minute dance step
that shows the precautionary measures of the Typhoon
Mawar.
Each group will be given 1-2 minute to
present their output to the class and each
performance task will be graded with the
following criteria:
