Emphasizing European Art
The following presentation is a guide to enjoy the Wonders of European Art!

Travel begins and ends at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), however this
tour can begin and end at any location.

Please note that you can change the amount of time and days at each city depending
on your time preferences, however I recommend a minimum of two days at each
location to fully enjoy the experience.

Most museums have local dining near the museum, however I will include a restaurant
or two that is recommended for the area.
List of Destinations and Travel
1)London, United Kingdom (by plane from LAX):The National Gallery and the Tait Britain are art
museums in Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, in Central London. There are several art
galleries in this same area (travel between museums using RideShare services like Uber or Taxi).
2)Paris, France (by underwater Channel Tunnel from London)- The Louvre and the National Museum
of Modern Art (MNAM)(travel between museums using RideShare services like Uber or Taxi).
3)Milan, Italy- (by plane) Santa Maria Delle Grazie church, The Galleria d'Arte Moderna, and the Brera
are modern art museums located centrally in Northern Milan, in Lombardy in northern Italy.(travel between
museums using RideShare services like Uber or Taxi).
4)Florence, Italy- (by train)Gallery of the Academy of Florence and the Piazza degli Strozzi Museums
(travel between museums using RideShare services like Uber or Taxi).
5)Berlin, Germany - (by plane) the Gemäldegalerie and the Alte Nationalgalerie Museums (travel
between museums using RideShare services like Uber or Taxi).
Ending and Starting in LAX or destination of choice (by plane)
Travel Itinerary- Towns and #Sites with travel times
The list to the right shows an Itinerary starting in Bakersfield, CA. When
taking an international flight leaving CA, using the Los Angeles
International Airport is suggested.

1) From the LAX you will arrive in the United Kingdom by plane (10
hrs) and visit London. There are many Art Museums/Sites (#2) in
Trafalgar Square.

2) From Trafalgar square you would then travel to Paris, France to see
sites (#3 and 4) using the underwater Channel Tunnel (2hrs. 16
mns).

3) Travel from Paris to Milan by plane (4 hrs) to visit sites


(#5 and 6 and Brera)

4) Travel from Milan to Florence by train (1hr 45 mins) to visit sites


(#7 and 8)

5) Travel from Florence to Berlin by plane (5 hours) to visit sites (#9


and 10)

6) Return to LAX by Plane (16 hours) or chose starting destination

The National Gallery contains a great many works, particularly Romantic era works.

These include works such as The Hay Wain(1821) by John constable or The Fighting
Temeraire( 1839) by J. M. W. Turner.

After the national gallery the next stop is the Tate london this includes the painting of the the The
Soul of the Soleless City(1920 ) by Christopher R. W. Nevinson (Abstract) .

Santa Maria Delle Grazie is different from all of the other locations on trip, instead of
being a museum it is a Church housing Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper (1498) and is the
burial site of the most important families in Milan.

For the next stop of the trip is the Brera Museum a museum in italy that like many of
the museums in this trip has works from many different eras in art history.

This museum unsurprisingly has some great Renaissance art, an example of these works
would be the discovery of the body of Saint Mark 1562–1566.

time.
Many of these masterpieces are contained within the gallery of the Florence Academy
of arts.

focusing on are the romantic era paintings.
● One of my favourite painting from this era would have to be the monk by
sea(1810)by Caspar David Friedrich it’s a romantic era painting depicting a monk
staring at the sea.
● After the visit to the Gemäldegalerie museum head to the hamburger Bahnhof
museum to see a portrait of mou by Andy Warhol(Visual Pop Art Movement)(1972).
