What is Extreme Weather?

• Extreme weather refers to severe or


unusual weather conditions that
deviate from the norm.
• Examples of extreme weather include
hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards,
heatwaves, floods, droughts, wildfires,
and landslides.
Types of Extreme • Thunderstorms: Powerful storms characterized by lightning, thunder,
heavy rain, and sometimes hail.

Weather • Tornadoes: Violently rotating columns of air extending from a


thunderstorm to the ground, capable of causing significant damage.
• Hurricanes: Intense tropical cyclones with strong winds and heavy
rainfall, typically forming over warm ocean waters.
• Blizzards: Severe winter storms characterized by strong winds,
heavysnowfall, and reduced visibility.
Heatwaves

• Heatwaves are prolonged periods of


abnormally hot weather.
• They can lead to health risks, heat exhaustion,
and heatstroke.
