The document discusses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15 which is to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss. It outlines 12 targets to achieve this goal, including conserving and restoring terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems, ending deforestation and restoring degraded forests, ensuring conservation of mountain ecosystems, and integrating ecosystem and biodiversity values into governmental planning. Suggested actions individuals can take to support the goal are also provided.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a
set of 17 global goals adopted by United Nations member states in 2015, with the aim of addressing various social, economic, and environmental challenges. Goal 15 specifically focuses on "Life on Land" and includes targets related to the conservation and restoration of terrestrial ecosystems. Goal 15: Life on land - The Global Goals. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss. UNO has provided us 12 twelve targets to create action to protect and restore life on land and Everyone can help to make sure that we meet the Global Goals. These goals are:
1. CONSERVE AND RESTORE TERRESTRIAL AND FRESHWATER ECOSYSTEMS.
2. END DEFORESTATION AND RESTORE DEGRADED FORESTS 3. END DESERTIFICATION AND RESTORE DEGRADED LAND 4. ENSURE CONSERVATION OF MOUNTAIN ECOSYSTEMS 5. PROTECT NATURAL HABITATS 6. PROMOTE ACCESS TO GENETIC RESOURCES AND FAIR SHARING OF THE BENEFITS 7. ELIMINATE POACHING AND TRAFFICKING OF PROTECTED SPECIES 8. PREVENT INVASIVE ALIEN SPECIES ON LAND AND IN WATER ECOSYSTEMS 9. INTEGRATE ECOSYSTEM AND BIODIVERSITY IN GOVERNMENTAL PLANNING PREVENT INVASIVE ALIEN SPECIES ON LAND AND IN WATER ECOSYSTEMS
We must implement effective measures to tackle the
growing threat of invasive alien species on our precious land and water ecosystems. Our goal is not only to prevent their introduction but also to significantly reduce their impact. Moreover, we are committed to controlling or eradicating priority species that pose a major risk to biodiversity and ecological balance. Together, let's ensure a sustainable future for our planet by taking decisive actions against these harmful invaders. CONSERVE AND RESTORE TERRESTRIAL AND FRESHWATER ECOSYSTEMS.
In the year 2030, it is crucial to prioritize the
conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems. This includes protecting vital ecosystems such as forests, wetlands, mountains, and dry lands. It is our responsibility to uphold our commitments under international agreements and ensure the long-term health and functionality of these valuable natural resources for future generations. END DEFORESTATION AND RESTORE DEGRADED FORESTS
• Promoting the adoption of sustainable forest
management practices is crucial in our efforts to combat deforestation and environmental degradation. By halting deforestation, restoring degraded forests, and significantly increasing forestation and reforestation initiatives worldwide END DESERTIFICATION AND RESTORE DEGRADED LAND • By the year 2030, our goal is to effectively combat desertification and restore degraded land and soil. This includes addressing areas that have been affected by desertification, droughts, and floods. With a united effort, we are striving to create a world where land degradation becomes neutral, promoting sustainability and ensuring a greener future for all. ENSURE CONSERVATION OF MOUNTAIN ECOSYSTEMS • Preserving mountain ecosystems and their diverse species is crucial for sustainable development by 2030. It's essential to prioritize this to ensure the long-term benefits they provide. PROTECT NATURAL HABITATS
• It is of utmost importance to take immediate and
impactful steps towards mitigating the decline of natural habitats, curbing the loss of biodiversity, and ensuring the survival of endangered species. Time is running out, so we must act urgently to protect our planet's delicate ecosystems and prevent irreversible damage. Let's join forces to meet these goals by 2030 and secure a sustainable future for all species. PROMOTE ACCESS TO GENETIC RESOURCES AND FAIR SHARING OF THE BENEFITS
I believe in promoting fairness and equality
when it comes to sharing the benefits that come from using genetic resources. It is important to ensure that everyone has appropriate access to these resources, as agreed upon on an international level. ELIMINATE POACHING AND TRAFFICKING OF PROTECTED SPECIES It is immediate and decisive steps are taken to put an end to the devastating practices of poaching and trafficking when it comes to protected species of flora and fauna. It is essential for us to tackle not only the supply but also the demand for illegal wildlife products. By addressing both aspects, we can make a significant impact in safeguarding our precious natural resources. INTEGRATE ECOSYSTEM AND BIODIVERSITY IN GOVERNMENTAL PLANNING
• By the year 2030, ensure the inclusion of ecosystem
and biodiversity values within national and local planning, development processes, poverty reduction strategies, and accounts. THINGS TO DO
• What things we can do to achieve this goal 15 (Life
on Land) by 2030 Do Any donation, big or small, can make a difference! Reduce your use of paper. Avoid printing and substitute it with electronic devices or carriers. Don’t buy products tested on animals: Check the labels on the products you buy. Recycle paper, glass, plastic, metal and old electronics. Clean your local parks and forests. Organize your own or join an existing clean-up event to sustain the ecosystem of your local green space. Don’t use pesticides. To protect and sustain the quality of soil, don’t use chemicals while growing plants. Stay informed. Follow your local news and stay in touch with the Global Goals online or on social media.
