PROBLEM STATEMENT
• Inefficient and error-prone manual attendance tracking in educational institutions and other sectors necessitates the
development of an advanced, real-time face recognition and attendance monitoring system. Existing challenges include
the absence of a comprehensive solution leveraging technologies such as the face_recognition library, OpenCV, and
scikit-image, with Local Binary Pattern (LBP) for robust face detection and feature extraction.

• Additionally, the lack of scalability and seamless integration with external modules for attendance logging and
notifications poses obstacles in achieving efficiency and adaptability across diverse applications like access control,
security, and attendance management. The absence of a user-friendly interface for students to access their attendance
records further hinders transparency and engagement.

• Addressing these challenges requires the implementation of a modular architecture capable of real-time face detection,
recognition, and attendance monitoring. The system should offer scalability, adaptability, and integration with a user-
friendly mobile application developed using MIT App Inventor for convenient access to attendance records. This
problem is not limited to educational environments; it extends to sectors where access control, security, and attendance
management are paramount.
