Statement of requirement (SOR):
It is a complete study of stratigraphic & structure properties of sub surface strata that
will be encounter in the proposed well. e.g. Formation target, depth, well path, size, casing, cementing,
drilling method, equipment, timeline, budget & performance metrics etc.
Prognosis:
It is a thickness of formation calculated by project geologist to give wellsite geologist.
Wellsite Geologist:
Onsite at the drilling rig. Collect data from mud logs, cuttings & other wellsite
measurements. Focused on day to day operations of a single well.
Operation Geologist:
Offsite at the office. Integrate data of all wellsite measurements & make reports. It has
broader view, seeing multiple wells & make strategies.

Mud logging:
Examining the cuttings of rock brought to the surface by the drilling fluid to create a detail record of
a borehole. e.g. cuttings, descriptions, gas shows, formation tops etc.
Wireline logging:
Measuring the properties of rock formation in the wellbore by sending tools on a wire cable down the
hole to collect data as they pulled back up.
Coring:
Undisturbed material that extract out from the hole to identify physical properties of rock.

Composite Log:
All logs are gather to compose as a single unit.
Offsets Wells:
An existing wellbore close to proposed well, that give geological information to make SOR.

Tough Logging Conditions (TLC):
It is used to acquire well bore data in challenging environments. Conditions involve highly
deviated or horizontal wells, as well as deep & complex formations.
TLC doing from drilling pipe and general logging occurring from wire.
Modular Dynamic Test (MDT):
MDT tool provide fast & accurate properties of rock. Wireline provide static measurements
of formation properties, however MDT provide indirect measurements of formation properties & fluid flow
characteristics.
MDT designed to record dynamic reservoir properties & fluid behavior under changing
conditions.
Rate of Penetration (ROP):
Study of how much drilling bit penetrated into the formation, they indicate soft & hard
formations also indicate change of lithology.

Gas Detection:
Mud gas detectors are devices used in the oil and gas industry to
analyze the drilling mud for the presence of gases.
