Multiplication of Decimal by Whole Number
“The number of decimal places in the product
is the sum of the number of decimal places in
the factors.”
Examples: a. Find the product of 8.46 by 5.

Multiplication of Decimal by Decimal
“In finding the product of decimals, multiply the numbers
in the same way as in multiplying whole numbers, then,
get the sum of the decimal places in the factors.”
Example: Find the product of 0.48 x 0.9.

0.48 – 2 decimal places
x 0.9 – 1 decimal place
0.432 – 2 decimal places + 1 decimal place
= 3 decimal places
