ABSTRACT

 Aquaculture is also known as Aquafarming , it is the process of cultivating aquatic organisms like as prawns , fishes ,shellfishes
etc.. which are essential source for global food production .

 It includes many challenges like water management , disease management , food management etc.. which are being commonly
faced by aqua farmers during this process of aquafarming .

 Enhanced biosecurity and effective health management practices are very crucial to this approach by using necessary
chemicals , providing healthy food , to keep an eye on water quality and finally by educating farmers on the use of innovative
technologies like smart prawn processing .

 The Smart Prawn Processing aims to control water parameters , creating healthier environment for species , more efficient way
to farm the species .

INTRODUCTION

 Aquaculture involves the cultivation of aquatic organisms in practices of freshwater and marine environments and can be
done in controlled environments or natural bodies of water.

 Majorly in Andhra Pradesh many farmers depends on aquaculture mainly on prawn cultivation.

 In prawn farming farmers choose a piece of land useful for cultivation and divide the land into parts named ponds and
make them suitable for cultivating using water, soil, electricity, some machinery.

 The final output mostly used for our consumption and in some medical use.

 During this process farmers go through mainly problems such as water quality issues , diseases , environmental impact,
electricity problems etc..

 Water management , Health management and Food management are necessary to overcome these problems and leads to
prawn health and farmer wealth.

PROJECT VIVA-VOCE MONDAY , 08 JULY 2024
MOTIVATION

 When we made a field visit regarding aquafarming ,we visited Kotthapatnam aqua farms which is located Prakasam Dist.
 In those aqua farms they have been growing prawns as their specie.
 They are cultivating Tiger prawn of Madagascar breed.
 We conducted a survey and made a questionnaire with the aqua farmers.
 We noticed the challenges and problems faced by farmers during the cultivation.
 The major hurdles faced by the farmers are commonly based on water quality , diseases effected to the prawn kind,
environmental issues, food and electricity etc..
 This motivated us to overcome these scenarios and provide them a better solution . The best technique we come up with
is “SMART PRAWN PROCESSING”.
 Smart Pawn Processing acknowledges the farmers to choose the suitable chemicals during different diseases occurred.
 It also gives awareness to the farmers to make wise decisions in making proper cultivation and good yield.
 Disease and Health Management
 Regulatory Compliance
 Water Management and Efficiency

PROJECT VIVA-VOCE MONDAY , 08 JULY 2024
OBJECTIVE

The main objectives are regarding water and disease.

Disease Management: Use smart business systems to monitor prawn health, detect diseases early, and automate treatments
to keep prawns healthy and reduce losses. Integrate real-time data analytics to predict potential disease outbreaks and take
preventive actions swiftly. Employ advanced biosecurity measures to minimize the risk of disease introduction and spread.

Water Management: Implement smart systems to continuously monitor water quality, automate water treatment, and
maintain optimal conditions for prawn growth, ensuring a clean and stress-free environment. Utilize IoT sensors for real-time
tracking of key water parameters like temperature, pH, and oxygen levels. Optimize resource usage by automating feed and
water management, reducing waste and operational costs.

8
PROJECT VIVA-VOCE MONDAY , 08 JULY 2024
EXISTING METHOD

 In aquaculture the prawns in the hatcheries oftenly get effected by diseases like fungus around their
gills , necrotizing Hepatopancreatitis (NHP) , Infectious Myonecrosis (IMN) , White Feces
Syndrome (WFS) etc.

 To reduce these kind of diseases for prawns farmers use chemicals such as Probiotics , Sea Fresh ,
Calgophos , Rizer , Zoothaminicide etc.

 Using these chemicals farmers reduce the diseases effected to the prawns ,farmers using these
chemicals accordingly sufficient for the hatcheries depending on their area and count of the held
inside the ponds.

 Mixing chemicals into the ponds is a challenging task for the farmers to complete.Farmers ,
themselves will go into the ponds to mix the chemicals in the water with their bare hands all over the
ponds to mix the medicine all around the hatch.

9
PROJECT VIVA-VOCE MONDAY , 08 JULY 2024
EXISTING METHOD

 There some existing methods like:

 1.Antifungal Agents
 Method: Bath Treatment
• Preparation: Measure the antifungal agent.
• Dissolution: Dissolve in a container with water.
• Bath Application: Pour the solution into a separate treatment tank or directly into the pond .

 2. Disinfectants and Antiseptics

 Method: Mixing and Application
• Preparation: Measure the required amount of disinfectant.
• Dissolution: Mix the chemical in a container with water.
• Application: Use a spray bottle or pump to apply the mixture on equipment, pond walls, or water.

10
PROJECT VIVA-VOCE MONDAY , 08 JULY 2024
EXISTING METHOD

 3. Water Conditioners
 Method: Distribution in Pond
• Preparation: Measure the required amount of conditioner (e.g., lime).
• Dissolution: Dissolve in a container with water.
• Broadcasting: Pour the mixture evenly across the pond or use a spreader.

 4.Antibiotics and Probiotics

 Method: Mixing with Feed or Water
• Preparation: Measure the required dosage of antibiotic or probiotic.
• Mixing with Feed: Mix thoroughly with feed pellets or dissolve in water.
• Feeding: Distribute the medicated feed to the prawns or pour the solution into the pond.

11
PROJECT VIVA-VOCE MONDAY , 08 JULY 2024
PROPOSED METHOD

 In this project we are going to prepare a low cost device and affordable for the farmers such that farmers will acquire the
device.
 In Smart Prawn Processing we are trying to provide a device which will be very helpful for the farmers.
 The device mainly focuses on the mixing of chemicals in the ponds.
 The device majorly used in the ponds in the time of where the prawns get effected by diseases.
 It reduces the burden on the farmers while managing the ponds where prawns are diseased which makes the farmers to
work less.
 The device is fully automatic and remote controlled .
 This device works , whenever the farmer observed or noticed disease to the prawn in the hatch and initiates the device to
mix the appropriate chemicals in required quantity all around the pond basing on aspects like :
1. The disease came to the prawn in the pond
2. Area of the pond
3. Count of the prawns in the pond in required quantity all around the pond.
 The farmer who going to operate the device has to enter the quantity basing on the above factors.
