(däl′yän′) also Ta·lien (tä′lyĕn′) A city of northeast China on the Liaodong Peninsula near Lüshun. A major seaport, it was part of the Kwantung leased territory from 1898 to 1955. The city was known as Dalny under the Russians and as Dairen under the Japanese.
