A half-hour later, Bass’ flight landed at Los Angeles International Airport, likely navigating through heavy plumes of smoke before arriving at the gate at 11:24 a.m.

Met Office in saying,the spiral probably came about due to the rocket’s “frozen exhaust plume... spinning in the atmosphere and reflecting the sunlight, causing it to appear as a spiral in the sky.”

Footage from Altrincham Today shows large plumes of smoke rising above the area near Altrincham Retail Park as crews from four stations rushed to the scene.
