The key is to focus. You have only a finite amount of control over things in life at large, and what you choose to focus on will determine how far you go.
One of the reasons why I'm choosing to disengage from political discourse is because regardless of how much I consume the news or how opinionated I become on a specific subject or world issue, I simply cannot do anything to change those macro situations. By stressing myself over things that are happening in other parts of the world, or with major events that don't directly affect me, I'm doing myself a disservice. If I cannot effectively change that situation, worrying and investing my energy about it will end up affecting me in negative ways.
I could instead focus my attention on the things in my life that have a direct impact on my future and my well-being. Education , career, fitness, faith, self-improvement, relationship building, etc. Are all things I can control, and when I choose to give my attention to external events, I'm wasting resources that I could be pouring into things that will benefit me in the long run. It's all about prioritizing where my focus goes and which things are truly important for my life.
Stop oversharing with people just because they are nice to you.
1. Name your fears and face them.
2. Know your appetites and control them.
3. Be neither a cheapskate nor a spendthrift.
4. Give as generously as you can.
5. Focus more on the transcendent;
disregard the trivial.
6. True strength is a controlled temper.
7. Never lie, especially to yourself.
8. Stop struggling for your fair share.
9. Forgive others, and forbear their weaknesses.
10. Define your morality; live up to it, even in private.
Question of the day… how are you currently stewarding the blessings in your life? You’re praying for your next home, but how are you taking care of where you live now? Even if you're room sharing, do you have respect for your current place, are you grateful? You want a new relationship, but relationships will always be a mirror...How are you managing your relationship with yourself? Are you making time for you? Listening to your needs? Even knowing what you need? Before you start begging for blessings, get interested in you, become aligned from your current position. So much energy is spent on chasing desires without truly appreciating the gift of where you are. Granted, you might not be where you want to be, but only good can come from honouring your current position with gratitude, understanding and love.
