i'd like to draw attention once again to @amalashuor's campaign [gfm link here] [vetted here #175], currently at 76% of its goal. however, most of the money raised has already been spent due to the incredibly high cost of living, and amal and her family are currently in need of tents, bedding, and winter clothes. amal has asked me to share her campaign again, which is the least than we can do.

i like working at plant store. sometimes you ring up someone and there's a slug on their plant and so you're like "Oh haha you've got a friend there let me get that for you" and you put the slug on your hand for safekeeping but then its really busy and you dont have time to take the slug outside before the next customer in line so you just have a slug chilling on your hand for 15 minutes. really makes you feel at peace with nature. also it means sometimes i get to say my favorite line which is "would you like this free slug with your purchase"

@holyknuckled you get it. lterally what are we here on earth for if not to occasionally impose gastropods upon unsuspecting customers. this story is delightful

oh? my god???

yeah, Exactly like that

One thing that helped me in life is like realizing that everybody else gets away with being ugly. Everybody else gets away with confronting people. Everybody else gets away with accidentally bothering people. Donโ€™t worry about anything ever lol

by making art you are improving no matter what im so serious never stop making art ever . Never stop drawing that game you like or those ocs only you know or things you see or objects that appeal to you or stars or hearts or shapes. draw wonky hands and weird proportions . This is important btw

โ€œOne of the strongest feelings I remember from my childhood is, precisely, of being humiliated; of being knocked about by words, acts, or situations. Isnโ€™t it a fact that children are always feeling deeply humiliated in their relations with grown-ups and each other? I have a feeling children spend a good deal of their time humiliating one another. Our whole education is just one long humiliation, and it was even more so when I was a child. One of the wounds Iโ€™ve found hardest to bear in my adult life has been the fear of humiliation, and the sense of being humiliated. Every time I read a review, for instance โ€” whether laudatory or not โ€” this feeling awakes. To humiliate and be humiliated, I think, is a crucial element in our whole social structure.โ€

Definitely the most fun chem tech lab ever. Lab partner and I made liquid soap, bar soap, and laundry detergent. Now I understand why commercially available soaps have all those fragrances added: trust me, the "raw" product stinks like an old frying oil. Also, it's so incredible that the substrates are all sorts of oils and fats and you get all greasy and gross weighing them out, but then the reaction happens and you get soap. Which REMOVES grease. Chemistry is amazing, I love it so much!

I managed to finish editing (read: adding whole new paragraphs to) my thesis intro and now I'm patiently waiting for an email from my professor where he'll inevitably list all the new things that need fixing now ๐Ÿซ  I hope there won't be too many of those though - April is going to be intense as it is

person who goes back in time to try and prevent lincolnโ€™s assassination but they get so enraptured by the play that heโ€™s watching that they forget and he gets shot anyways

It's kind of fucked how the original Scandal in Bohemia is essentially about a woman being harassed by her wealthy and politically powerful ex when all she wants to do is mind her business and move on with her life, and every single adaptation that isn't a line-by-line recreation of the short story turns her into a self-serving Femme Fatale con artist criminal, like fuck the only crime she committed was being poorer than her boyfriend.

She doesn't want to fuck sherlock and sherlock doesn't want to fuck her either.

Nonono. See. The fucked part is that she wasn't. Or at least, there's no evidence that she ever was. The king was just afraid that she might, which was why he sent people after her. The whole twist of Scandal was that my dude was fully convinced she was a jilted woman who wanted to get back at him for leaving her by revealing their relationship, only for Sherlock to discover that she had fully moved on to the point of marrying and running off with someone else. She only kept the photo to protect herself in the event that her ex kept coming after her.

Irene was completely innocent and only protecting herself from a powerful man.
