Thinking about how when Nat pointed the gun at her dad, it wasn’t for self preservation - it was to protect her mom. The mom who knew about the abuse her daughter was enduring, yet stood by and watched it happen. Nat didn’t even have to think when she saw her mom being hurt in that same way. She wanted so badly to take matters into her own hands. But when her dad died, as a result of his own ego and stupidity, Nat’s mom ran to him. She went straight for the man who had been beating the shit out of her less than five minutes ago and not the traumatized 14 year old child who had tried to save her. Not the kid who was berated and abused by her dad, who watched him blow his own brains out and is now stained with his blood. Nat was so neglected by her mom and yet she still risked her life to save her. And even then, her mom couldn’t have cared less.
