"The guy we saved today had an in at Morimoto-san's restaurant. There's a table reserved for two. Whatta ya say? Date with me? Get served food cooked and plated by an Iron Chef?"

Tani had dolled herself up in the dress and heels. Her hair hung loose around her shoulders. “Thanks. You look great yourself.” She smiled brightly at him. Leaning in, she gave him a kiss. It was as she pulled back that she noticed the roses.

“Oh Steve! That’s so sweet of you.” She looked positively delighted.

He handed over the flowers, and then presented her the light blue box, "That's not all. I hope you like it."

She took the box and then opened it with a soft gasp. “It’s beautiful! You didn’t have to get me anything.”

She giggled at his reaction. “I know.” Tani gave him a kiss. “That sounds perfect. I can’t wait!” It was nice to actually make time for a date night.

The brunette genuinely felt a bit spoiled at the moment.

“I say count me in. Sounds like a perfect date night.” Tani grinned softly at him. “I’ll even wear that dress you like.”

“Happy Valentine’s Day, my love! I love you so much, Jack.”

He smiled and spun Tani before pulling her close. Calling out to Alexa to play from their playlist. He really loves to dance, and no better dance partner than Tani. He dipped her before kissing her. “I love you too. Happy Valentine’s Day…”

Tani smiled and kissed him back. She couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend Valentine’s day. Jack meant the absolute world to her. “Oh hey, I got you a present.” She handed him a small flat box. Inside was a knife with a jackal logo etched into the blade.

“If it were you, you’d already be home.” She teased back. He was just as stubborn as his dad when it came to hospitals. Not that she blamed them. Her hand grasped his hand squeezing it reassuringly.

Tani smiled softly at him. “Thanks. I don’t mind going to your dad’s house. Eddie snuggles and good food sounds perfect to me.” She relaxed a bit. “I’m pretty sure your Dad and Danny had them run every test on me. Nothing is broken and no concussion. Impressive, all things considered.” She gestured to the bandage above her eyebrow. “Just this and bruised ribs.”

“True.” She giggled softly at him. “Well in that case, I would like a kiss.” Tani smiled expectantly. “From you, of course. I think that would make me feel so much better.”

His kisses did tend to make her feel better, at least. Honestly, just Jack’s presence was making her feel better too.

"I heard they're introducing a new course to new doctors starting their residency here. 'How to Deal with a McGarrett'. They say if you pass that, you can deal with any kind of patient," He reported teasingly.

"Good. And we can leave at any time if you wanna get some rest," Though he's sure that the McGarrett home is one of the few places any of the team members feel comfortable enough to stay and sleep over.

"If I didn't feel the way I do about hospital, I might have put my hat in the ring and asked them to double-check each test. But...I know what I'm like when I get hurt, so I'll bite my tongue. And just know that I'm at your beck and call. Always, but more so at the moment. Whatever you desire, just ask and it's yours."

Tani couldn’t help giggling at his words. “Pretty sure the rest of the team aced that course a long time ago.” She teased him back. The brunette winced when she tried to nod. “That sounds good, babe.”

Another giggle fell from her lips. “Oh I’m sure your Dad and Danny already did. I’m okay. Really.” She reassured him with a smile. “I know and you really are the sweetest.”

She honestly felt lucky to have a boyfriend like him. “Anything I want? Because a kiss sounds really good right about now.” Her smile grew a bit. “It would probably make me feel even better too.”

The brunette turned away from the crime scene and eyed the man curiously. The badge looked real, at least. She sent a quick text to Jerry with the information to look up to ensure this guy was legit before giving him her attention again. “Tani Rey. I’m with the Five-0 taskforce.” Her badge was displayed on the front right side of her jeans.

“We’ve been dealing with a string of home invasion robberies. The suspects just upped their game and hit these stores. Electronics, Convenience, and a thrift store. Their getaway vehicle was parked in this alley here. Evidence suggests that the robbers escaped to the roof of the stores then used the ladder over here to get back down into the alley.” She explained pointing to the ladder in question that was attached to the wall on the left side of the alley.

Her phone dinged and she checked her texts. It was a message from Jerry. She was relieved to see that the FBI consultant was legit. “Anyway, something went wrong because one of the robbers got left behind. Coroner said his injuries were consistent with a fall from the roof, but we won’t know more until the autopsy is finished. There were no signs of a struggle on the roof itself though.” Tani pointed out the tire marks on the pavement. “They drove out of here in a hurry. The body would have landed behind the vehicle.”

Cases of robberies were a dime a dozen, but Charlie had formulas for them, so many formulas. His fingers itched for a marker as he listened to Tani describe the case, but he forced himself to stop. He hadn't been invited in, after all, and he'd promised Don that he wasn't going to work any cases while he was in Hawaii. But someone had died. That had to negate his promise to Don, right?

"I could help," he started, practically vibrating with the urge to plug in the equations. "I'm a mathematician. I can figure out where they're most likely to strike next, where you can find them. It's all equations. I could take the information you have on the places they've already hit, see what I can come up with."

The crime scene didn't look spectacular, just an alley with a sheet covering the body, but Charlie could probably do an equation to figure out what the getaway car was too, if he could get his hands on enough information. That's what he did. He figured things out. That was way better than a guest lecture.

"I just want to help."

Her brows raised as she listened to him speak. She had to admit that his help would come in handy. Especially with this current case. Tani considered his words then nodded her head in agreement. “Yeah sure. Let me just clear it with my boss. In the meantime, why don’t you get all of the data you need from this crime scene? Once I get the all clear from the boss, I can take you over to the Palace.”

She paused realizing he had no idea what she meant. “That’s just the nickname of our headquarters.” Tani assured him. “Alright, just give me a second. I’ll be right over here.” She smiled and stepped aside pulling out her phone. The brunette made a call and pressed the phone to her ear. “Hey Steve. Yeah I’m done. Listen, there’s a FBI consultant here that has offered to help us with this case. Uh huh. Dr. Charlie Eppes. He’s a Mathematician. Yeah he checked out. Right. Yeah sure. No problem. Okay.” She hung up then stepped back over to him.

“Um, hey Doctor? My boss gave the all clear. So whatever you need for your equations, all you have to do is ask.” Tani informed him.

@5-0xmermaid liked for a starter from Charlie Eppes.

Don didn't like it when Charlie took guest lectures from out of state. Something about Charlie always getting into trouble when he wasn't around to keep an eye on him. Charlie didn't agree, but he played along most of the time. Not when he was offered a lecture position at the University of Hawaii, though. Charlie had always wanted to go to Hawaii, but he'd never had the chance before. He'd jumped on it.

The lecture went well and Charlie was walking back towards his hotel when he noticed the crime scene tape. He frowned, moving closer to the tape, trying to see what the scene was. He had his FBI consultant badge in his bag and he fumbled to pull it out, making his way towards the closest officer.

"Excuse me," he grabbed the attention of the woman standing near him, "I'm Dr. Charlie Eppes. I'm an FBI consultant. What happened here?"

Tani sighed when she saw him. This was never a good idea and yet like a magnet, she just couldn’t resist. “We really shouldn’t, you know. They’d kill me if they knew about us.”

Stolas let his gaze wonder around the room before landing back on Tani with an aloof expression. "Hm. You say that and yet you keep coming back here." Stolas pretended to look confused, as if quiering why that could be. "-I didn't even invite you over."

“Well I don’t hear you complaining.” The brunette remarked. “No, you didn’t invite me over, but you let me in.” Tani pointed out to him. “You want it just as much as I do.”
