Sorry there's not much here, I just link fics really.

Asks are open!

Just a quick note to say @tomatotimes had some questions about GHD for me they messaged because my ask box wasn't open. I think I must have turned off the option ages ago because, tbh, I didn't think people would ever want to ask me anything! But with GHD finished etc, I've opened it up in case anyone else has questions.

Ask rules: NSFW is allowed, but no real life subjects please. Also obviously troll asks will be ignored. Aside from that, ask away!

@99corentine's Elden Ring fic series is fantastic, and I've re-read it maybe an embarrassing number of times so far. But I'm not very familiar with the game and so the relative height of everybody involved kept shifting around in my head, and I finally gave up and dusted off my ancient tablet to do a size comparison sketch/study. FromSoftware's character designs tend to be creative with proportions too. I had to finesse something for the OC Haydn's prosthetic legs. Anyway this is what I ended up with so hopefully it's semi-accurate!

Ahhh oh my goodness! You drew not just my Tarnished, but ALSO my veiled monarch design? I'm so, so flattered, and everything looks fantastic. I'm also wildly inconsistent with the heights, especially in my own drawings, but I think you did a great job. Especially given Fromsoft's Extremely Shaped proportions too.

Also Haydnnn T_T His prosthetics are perfect. I've yet to find something in-game that totally fits the bill, but I usually model them on the Hoslew set legs because they look semi-feasible for prosthetics and go well with the helmet I chose (though, canonically Haydn shouldn't have that leg armour because he never joined Volcano Manor but sshh it was for the fashion sshh).

My pleasure :) The Veiled Monarch and Haydn were fun to draw! Margit's horns involved a lot of Google searches. And because the detail on the sketch of Hayden is hard to see, here's a bigger cleaner version. I enjoyed rendering the wiry-with-prominent-joints physique.

You got his body type absolutely perfect T_T Albinaurics in game are a bit spidery looking imo, so I wanted the same. And his legs! Just wonderful.

I just wanted to say I hope you're doing well :) And because it doesn't feel right to say just that, I've been playing a game called Nightingale and the writing in it, particularly between the player and Puck, reminds me of your stuff. It's crafting/survival/optionally co-op, so pretty different from your other subject matter, but interesting.

Hey, thank you very, I am well :) I wasn't familiar with Nightingale or Puck but I looked both up and you're right, it does have a resemblance! Aside from the use of thee and thy Puck has a sort of poetic way of speaking that I try to put into my version of Morgott too (honed from writing my version of Skyrim's Miraak I assume. Love me a loquacious love interest). Anyway, I took it as high praise, so thank you very much!

On the subject, ye olde english has started to creep into my everyday conversation, I told my hangry cat "I'll feed thee when it is dinner time and not before!" the other day...

Hurrah, another chapter posted! That concludes this part, this one was tricky to write.

Morgott places both hands upon the smooth wood of the table. “’Tis my prerogative to pretend this never happened, Tarnished. As should thee.”
“I’m not going to – Morgott. We must talk about this.” His counterpart also places his hands upon the table.
 Finally.
“Must we now,” Morgott says blandly, and gestures in incantation. Golden manacles materialise from nothingness, and neatly clap around the Tarnished’s wrists.

As an aside, I feel like I have a better grasp on the relationship dynamic compared to the earlier works, so I have now changed the series title to better reflect it. Cover art to come soon, maybe? We’ll see.

New chapter, this one took a little while! Aaand it was too long, so I had to split it. Plot! Intrigue! Assassins! Ghosts! Greates Runes! Excerpt below:

It would have been better if there had not been any witnesses to it, but since there was and Morgott cannot make him un-witness it, he decides the best way through this is with obstinate nonchalance, “What is there to elaborate? ‘Tis spirit-calling. Thou hast surely seen its like before.”
 “I can’t say Roderika’s spirit-calling ever looked that… violent.”
Roderika must be one of the lot at the Roundtable. Spirits are coaxed with either the carrot or stick approach, and the conventional way is altogether gentler than anything he might use. “It was a violent spirit. But commanding such is… beyond the parameters of the Golden Order, so I do not use it lightly, or often. Common knowledge of it would unsettle people, so kindly keep this to thyself.”
“Unsettle, yes, though I’m not sure anyone would be surprised. I’m not even sure why I’m surprised.” He sounds quite exasperated. When Morgott gives him a querying glance: “It fits in perfectly with your whole… scary witch-king thing.”
Scary? Hm. That would explain why Tarnished’s heart is still beating quite loud. Morgott is aware of what his veiled appearance conveys, but he can question the phrasing, “Witch-king?”

Took a little while, but a new part is here! Features Tarnished being just the absolute worst at diplomacy, and Morgott’s inner Margit coming to the fore:

He finally addresses the rest of the court. “This sham of a symposium is over. When this court next convenes I expect it to conduct itself with some actual decorum. Thou art dismissed.”
Haydn expects that he will also be ordered to scurry away with the rest of the courtiers, but there are still fingers pinching the back of his neck. Once the room is cleared he wriggles free like an eel, sour in countenance at his argument being interrupted. “It wasn’t petty drama, I’ll have you know.”
“If thou’rt to cause me a diplomatic incident,” the monarch hisses back, “the least thou could do is speak to me with proper respect.”
“Your majesty,”   Haydn returns acidly with a shallow bow, and turns to leave. He yelps as he’s summarily seized about the back of the neck again, “Stop manhandling me!”
“Would that thou were not in need of handling, little man,” is the growled reply.

first bookbind in a WHILE… whoopsies

This fic was written by the amazing @99corentine !

And the incredible typeset was made by @thetempleofmara who put so much work onto it along side the stunning art!!

I had to change the cover up a bit bcs im bad at math and some letter were too small to cut out

Please send them both some love!!

Oh my gooosh this looks amazing! That is so ridiculously sleek and polished. The leather cover! The map insides! The silly Skyrim fic I wrote in black and white, and temple's art!!

I can't thank you and @thetempleofmara enough for the ridiculous amount of work you've put into all of this. I am blown away. Never ever in a million years did I think the fic I started because I was feeling sad in quarantimes would get to this point, or be this beloved.

I'll aspire to this level of awesome when I try to make my own binding T_T Though I'm a long way off this level of talent.

Chapter 3 is out, which finishes off this particular installment! The hurt/comfort payoff awaits...

For all his kingly articulation, Margit’s words fail him now. He grasps for what he can: “A Fell Omen should not have friends.”
“Who decided that?”
“I did,” he stresses. Tarnished is quick to blame things upon the Veiled Monarch, as though Margit hasn’t only ever held his own leash. “I am Leyndell’s shadow. My duty lies in vigil and slaughter, nothing else.”
“But that’s not true, is it?” he asks almost kindly. Damningly so. “When we travelled together you kept me safe, from monster to poison swamp. That’s the duty of a guardian, not a killer.”
He shakes his head, the words tumbling out unbidden, “It was not duty but indulgence. I know well what I am, but with thee I–” he realises too late that he has said too much, but the last word claws its way out regardless, “–Forget.”

New part written! Hurt/comfort, come getcha hurt/comfort:

Haydn gestures fruitlessly, any eloquence escaping him. “This used to be… easy. And now it’s not easy. I can’t think what I’ve done or said to warrant this cold shoulder I’m getting, so if you could just tell me instead of making me guess, I’d really appreciate it.”
The directness seems to put the Omen on the spot. “That – it is – there is no upset.”
He heaves a sigh, “Come on, don’t do this to me. I’d apologise if I knew what I was apologising for. Just tell me.”
 Margit looks at him.
“You are too attached,” he says at last.

I finished this part \o/ Here’s an excerpt:

“It is not ready to pass,” the monarch says with enormous exasperation. “All of this must be agreed upon by the courts and will yet go through a dozen further amendments. If any of this were easy I would hath done it by now, which part of that dost thou not understand? I hath a court session to submit the Leyndell Mandate next week, though I expect little scrutiny at this stage. Reframing the rest of the law so the Mandate covers Omen is the difficult part.”
But he is going to try.
And Haydn feels… odd. He and Morgott have been about one step off enemies for weeks now, and suddenly Morgott has swung firmly into ally territory. Unpredictability from a king known for being steadfast to the point of stagnancy. He still has no idea what to make of it, but he can’t look around the busy office and not feel something. This is such a ridiculous amount of work for two days, he must have been in here the entire time. Furiously penning society-shaking laws in one hand while scarfing lunch with the other. Even if he was doing it to prove what an idiot Haydn is, he still did it, no less dutiful for his affected disdain.
It reminds him unerringly of Margit.

The veiled part, it turns out, is quite literal. A head-to-toe drape of funerary-black, just sheer enough that the shape of a man might be seen beneath – this must be what the Night’s Cavalry style themselves after. It’s doubly intimidating given the size of him, several heads taller than anyone else in the room and quite a bit broader too. Must be a demigod thing. The shroud is interrupted only by a simple, heavy golden crown, and a black-clad arm emerging from the folds to lean upon a walking cane. But there is nothing feeble about the way King Morgott holds himself. He silent, and expectant.

The Tarnished strikes a tentative truce with the Veiled Monarch, but peace is not so straight-forward - especially when the monarch himself seems determined to sabotage it.

It’s another one, I’m enthused, say no more. Now featuring my nazghul-adjacent version of the Veiled Monarch, and Morgott being his own worst enemy. Eventually they’re going to kiss, I’m heading towards that goal like a steam train.

A fetish bathed in golden magic. Shackles were used to bind the accursed people called the Omen, and these ones were made to keep a particular Omen under strictest confinement. Though faint, the shackles still retain vestiges of power — enough to trap the once-bound Margit on earth, if only for a short time.
It all starts when Margit finds the shackle.

Hi hello, I have been playing Elden Ring and I wrote a thing. I wasn’t sure if any of my usual followers would be interested, but I figured I’d post it here just in case any of you play ER!

Well well well I told you you’d like Elden Ring and here we are 😏

You did, and you were right. It must be the Skyrim itch, I only truly obsess over characters when I don't actually get to interact with them that much. Which says some slightly unflattering things about me in retrospect 🤨

He turns back around and scowls at the water, or more accurately at himself. The grime he can feel is transient, as is this body. He shouldn’t be here bathing at all, when he could be doing more useful things with his time. The whole thing is an exercise in indulgence, and he should know better.
But still the cool water, the breeze between his horns, the scent of flowers and grasses… and someone who maybe, maybe does not find his crooked shape so repulsive. Maybe. Maybe.
There is the slosh of someone kneeling down. “If this is a no silence instead of a yes silence you need only say. Or gesture,” Tarnished intones from behind him, gently.
Margit says nothing. He is weak. But it has been a tough day and a long exposure to poison, and later he will blame that for this foolishness.

The Tarnished has achieved too much, and Margit has let him get too close.

-

I’m feeling enthused, so I wrote another one!

I sort of want to get to the smut already, but Morgott is about as slow-burn as characters get, so it’s a while off yet. In the meantime he gets a bath, because let’s be honest he needs one.

Hi, I just wanted to send my congratulations to you for being the first fic author to make me cry reading fanfiction ever (chapter 25 ghd what the FUCK was that)

I WILL be tagging you in fanart by the time I finish reading

Haha, thank you but also apologies, chapter 25 is probably as angsty as GHD gets although there are a few more heartbreaks to go. I'm pretty sure I cried writing it too ^^;
