A List of Moods™

@a-list-of-moods / a-list-of-moods.tumblr.com

Once upon a time, this was a real numbered list, but now it's kinda just where I put all the thoughts that make me exhale a little out my nose. TERFS and racists don't touch this blog or else

question! if a workplace is violating labor laws (which they often are) is there anything that prevents an employee from:

  1. printing out copies of the laws being violated, maybe with helpful highlights/summaries
  2. (and a helpful reporting hotline, if possible)
  3. taping these signs anonymously in the employee bathroom stalls

i know retaliation is something many workers worry about, but bathrooms at least still don't have security cameras. so is this a practical and anonymous thing to do? and if so, why isn't it more common?

They can't have cameras inside the bathrooms, but they can have them pointing to the entrance of the bathrooms. They can figure out who put them up based on what time people went in and out. It would probably work the first couple of times, but retaliation would catch up pretty quick.

Tips if you do want to try something like this:

Don't create it/print it at work or use company paper/tape - there's a time to steal and there's a time to be sneaky. This is sneaky time.

Hide the paper & tape before you arrive (purse, pocket, etc)

Do it during busy bathroom times - start of the day / during breaks when lots of people are coming and going

Be quick and silent

Don't say anything to anyone about what you're up to

  • paper is easy to hide wrapped around the thigh/torso areas. which is a weird sentence to type but yeah.
  • print shops (and LIBRARIES!) exist and can be quite cheap
  • you can do one stall at a time (which helps the aforementioned security camera thing)

Print them as flyers then pay someone 50$ to flyer all the cars in the parking lot.

oooo or enlist a friend to do it as a favor. your brain is huge and globulous

Hey folks -- Big protest day on Saturday here in the US. There's a LOT of events (literally one the next town over from me and I live in the fucking sticks so seriously, look to see if one's near you!) and if you can't attend a protest or rally, make time to call your reps and make some noise.

I can’t go because I’m doing a university mandated trip and will be driving home when the one by my house is on, so someone do it in my stead?

I see a lot of ‘cis’ women say they wish they were androgynous in the way men were or they wish they were pretty in the way men were. This is your sign to go try to do that. You may find you enjoy being an androgynous woman. You may find you no longer identify as a woman. You may find you don’t like androgyny. You will not know until you try. Cut your hair if you’ve always wanted to but have been afraid to. Shop in the men’s section if you’ve been too nervous to. Wear clothing with an androgynous silhouette. Experiment with binding, take baby steps with compression bras if you want. Wear unisex scents. Live life. Try things you want to try. A lot of cis women do not understand the joys of mens pants and mens deodorant. I think everyone should try both of those things.

#much more comfortable being a woman when I realised it literally doesn’t have to mean anything  #unlock cis+ it’s good for you]

Trans people don't own gender. We stole it the way Prometheus stole fire, so it would be available to everyone.

I'm cis but I also don't put much stock in being a woman. I'm a woman because it's convenient. Woman (nonpracticing). Being a woman means nothing to me.

I wear men's deodorant and pants and also eyeliner and red lipstick. I have a very small cup size and tried stuffing my bra once and that's how I learned what gender dysphoria feels like. Gender is like soup and my soup can is in the back of the closet because I don't like soup but I'm too lazy to throw it out. Who cares. Woman only means something if you want it to mean something.

Some women are conditioned to be fragile and weak, and to believe that it's a sin to outperform a man. Her feminism would involve allowing women to be strong.

Some women are expected to be strong at times when they can't. Her feminism would involve reassuring her that it's okay to not be strong.

Some neurodivergent people are raised to believe that they're too stupid to ever amount to anything. Their disability activism would involve reassuring them that they're capable.

Some neurodivergent people are raised to believe that they're smart and gifted, and are expected to live up to impossible standards. Their disability activism would involve allowing them to fail, make mistakes, be stupid, etc.

Some children are constantly reminded "you're the child, I'm the adult" in order to deny their autonomy. Their youth rights activism would involve treating them like an adult at times when they feel ready for it.

Some children are treated like adults in order to justify increased expectations or to downplay abuse against them. Their youth rights activism would involve allowing them to be a child.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution to oppression. Each individual person's experience is different. Whatever trauma is caused by their oppression, the activism should focus on undoing it.

being so fr when I say that transmisogyny has put feminism back like 50 years

what i thought we had distanced ourselves from was the reduction of women to vaginas and wombs and the ability to bear children. i thought we had progressed past ‘dresses are for women and pants are for men.’ i thought we progressed past the idea that someone is less of a woman if she does not adhere strictly to beauty standards. i thought we progressed past the idea that naturally being comfortable adhering to highly feminine standards is vulgar. but i (sarcastically) guess no one could have predicted that trans-exclusive feminism would be the downfall of all the progress we’ve made

“We’re in danger of losing what the entire second wave of feminism, what the entire second wave of women’s liberation was built on, and that was ‘Biology is not destiny’. ‘One is not born a woman,’ Simone de Beauvoir said, ‘one becomes one’. Now there’s some place where transsexual women and other women intersect. Biological determinism has been used for centuries as a weapon against women, in order to justify a second-class and oppressed status. How on Earth, then, are you going to pick up the weapon of biological determinism and use it to liberate yourself? It’s a reactionary tool.”

EBAY ARE ADDING AI TO THEIR SITE. YOU HAVE AUTOMATICALLY BEEN OPTED IN. GO AND OPT OUT.

you cannot turn it off via the app or mobile site, you HAVE to be on desktop.

To turn this off, sign into your account click on the Hi (your name)! > My eBay > Account > AI training preferences and you can toggle off the permission.

Done.

For my own peace of mind, after opting out at the default ebay.ie URL, I logged out again then logged into ebay.co.uk and ebay.com (because that's how my mind works).

The opt-out was showing correctly on all three, so it only needs done once.

The direct link is https://accountsettings.ebay.com/ai-preferences once you're logged in.

an imperfect ally is better than a perfect bystander

the old boomer who "doesn't get the gays" but still votes blue every election is still a better ally to you than every well-spoken, woke millennial who says all the right shit but didn't vote because they "didn't like either option"

the lady who voted for trump but has changed her mind since and is calling her senator every day is a better ally to you than anyone very politely apologizing for how awful things are and not doing anything to actually help

The idea of being the perfect liberal is going to kill us if we don’t realize it’s impossible

Do what you can. It’s not the oppression Olympics, and it’s not the “be the platonic ideal of a liberal” Olympics.

It’s about doing what you can to make things less bad.

Whatever that might be.

I know I’ve featured this scene on the Nazi Punch of the Day, but this version seemed particularly timely given the ongoing attacks on education.

Sick and tired

(Disclaimer: trans is at the head for a reason, but all else is random. Getting distracted by what should go where is exactly the petty distraction they want.)

Masterlist of rocks with scientifically- confirmed auras:

Uranium and other radioactive rocks: cancer

Sodium: fire

Sodium chloride (halite): tasty (and high blood pressure)

Malachite: poison (when in water)

Asbestos: special type of cancer

Lead: poison, aura activated if ingested or inhaled (metal counts as a rock right?)

Cadmium: see above

Magnetite and hematite: magnetism

Quartz: electricity (kinda)

Any: blunt force (requires external force to project this aura)

in which i've started to call my terrible governor 'wrong dicksuckis'. 'decuckis' and 'desuckass' also work.
