๐“†ข i donโ€™t tag spoilers! sorry!

๐“†ข dredge might be rated E for Everyone but this blog is E for Explicit.

๐“†ข also this is just sort of my catch-all oceanic hyperfixation blog so while there is a lot of dredge, expect all kinds of sea-related content.

๐“†ข tag/ask game friendly! i will see it, but it might take me a bit to read/reply!

๐“†ข gnashing perch, many-eyed mackerel, and voideye are my favorite aberrations, they are squishy little babies and i love them

Dredge-inspired embroidery I did last month !

I used some glow-in-the-dark yarn where I could. It's my first time doing something more "artsy".

(Dredge is a cosy horror fishing game, it's great, you should go play it)

Dredge Fish! These aberrations are the Voltaic Grouper and the Sprouting Eel. This is part 1 of 2 hopefully

The background is posca markers but other than those two colors the rest was me trying out a set of Arrtx markers! This particular set (60 pc set B) has a loooot of midtones and not many dark colors, but other than that coloring with them was SUPER fun. I actually thought they were a lot easier for me then poscas.

Dredge fish part 2! Part 1 is here! This is in fact a large 2-page spread in my wet media sketchbook. I thought about doing something in the middle to tie them into one large piece but I figured out the page gutter is a little too deep, unfortunately.

These two are the Fanged Cod and the Decaying Blackmouth. Still used the Arrtx markers on these but it was a little more challenging as I didn't have anything super close to use ๐Ÿค” This was definitely a 'trust the process' kind of page, but I thought it turned out nicely in the end!

notes on freshwater

You cannot help but taste the waterโ€”no matter where you go. The spray from the waves crashing and beating against the hull of your trawler catches on your beard and trickles over your lips, as you skip over the waves in pursuit of the wavering horizon line, the frantic chase toward a rumor that drips thick and coagulated in your ear using the Collectorโ€™s voice.

Itโ€™s easy to mark the confluence of the Twisted Strand, as you approach it. The droplets of water tastes sweet on your tongue, when you wet your wind-chapped lips and pull up to the Merchantโ€™s dock, and as though the salt had been stripped away to lay bare that sickly-sweetness, water that had once been fresh but now tasted like rot. You wonder where the water comes from.

As you probe deeper into the strand, you are burdened by the weight of your curiosityโ€”just where does this freshwater come from? The fish here are adapted to it, species that live well in brackish-fresh water: catfish, gar, and grey mullet. Yet there is no landmass in the branching pathways, no source well for the water to spring from. There is land, but land of a sticky sort, that drags your feet down and in and suckles at the soles of your boots, urging you to let your mind drift.

You catch the movement of the vines out of the corner of your eye, and move on, though your surroundings do their best to fight against youโ€”movement is a forbidden knowledge here. Perhaps all the salt in the Twisted Strand has sunk to the sea floor, tucked into the river bedโ€”fallen victim to the wallowing demanded by the languid poison in the tide.

I picked up my gansai tambi paints for the first time in 2 years and wanted to reacquaint myself with them, so I decided to paint some of the delightfully disturbing fish from Dredge as practice.
