Can you review the Neela?
I wasn't expecting to get a new Neopet so soon after the Varwolf dropped, but here we are. I will say that the Neela feels a bit "off" for Neopet's traditional style, and kind of follows the hyper-detailed full body pet outfits we've been getting recently. I don't dislike the way it looks, but the detail and the unique pose will make customization difficult.
That said, I do like the design a lot! It feels a bit like the Ogrin, and I guess you could argue they're too similar to justify the Neela as a pet, but I think the markings, long tail, hooves, four horns, and slender face make it different enough. It has this really nice ethereal kind of vibe to it, and is really beautiful overall.
Speaking of markings, my only other issue with this design is that I'm not sure what base color it's supposed to be. Blue, I guess? I love the palette in isolation, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't quite fit in with other basic-coloured Neopets, and it's weird that they only released one out of three basic colours for it so far. Not a huge issue, but one I hope they correct soon.
Neelas have obviously been released post-customization, so there's no UC/styled art to discuss (for the basic colour, at least).
Favorite Colours:
Arid: Not only did TNT release a new pet, but they also released some new colors along with it! Arid is arguably very basic, just black and white with dark pinkish-red accents, but I'm an absolute sucker for black/white/red combos, and I really think this palette makes the Neela's unique markings pop compared to the basic color.
Blacklight: Oh, this one's beautiful! We only have a pet style for it right now so we don't know what the converted version will look like, but I love the pose and the joyful expression. I also think that this is a solid new colour—we have shadow and rainbow, but black with neon rainbow highlights is unique enough when combined that I think it's more than justified, especially with the rainbow spectrum trails coming off of it. Can't wait to see what more pets look like in this colour!
Graveyard: Okay, this one looses some points for originality, given that we already have zombie as a colour and it's not clear what the difference is. Graveyard is gorier, I suppose? Regardless, this design is very cool. I love the details with the stitching along the sides, and the exposed skull and broken horn look super cool and creepy.
