Stackson trash with multishipping addiction

@adrianfridge / adrianfridge.tumblr.com

I’m a writer, artist, and professional wreck. Formerly known as fanfictionfridge. Teen Wolf pro-Sterek pro-Scott multishipper. Pfp and banner by me. Catch me being a 35yo white Jewish autistic agender aroace (he/him) --- You can find me as whatthefridge on AO3. More multifandom side-side blog at @fridge-full-of-feels

For anyone stumbling upon my blog, or maybe you've been here a while and need a refresher, I'm...

So basically I post everything plus Teen Wolf here (Teen Wolf stuff isn’t always tagged as #teen wolf unless I’m OP because I use character and ship names instead). If you wanna see me go feral for other fandoms (e.g. Dracula Daily, Dungeon Meshi, etc) then head over to @fridge-full-of-feels

Ever since we moved to our new apartment, we've been hearing more birds than we ever have before (#city problems). This has resulted in both me and my partner getting invested in figuring out which birds make which calls with the help of an app. But the funniest outcomes to our amateur birding is:

1) I am now even more of a cat because I will ZIP towards the window or a bird to try to identify it

2) We have beef with the bluejays, who sound like they're always screaming "ME ME ME"

Oh maaaan. This is a hard one. Malia and Lydia have some fun UST but Scott and Theo have history and drama. I’m a slut for a good friends to enemies to lovers

i wish there was an easier way to tell the difference between an "if it sucks hit da bricks" situation and a "sometimes being an adult means doing things that you dont wanna" situation

The best answer to this that I've seen is "You are free to do whatever you like. You must only live with the consequences."

"If it sucks, hit da bricks" is for when you realize that you actually definitely can live with the consequences of Not Doing The Thing.

"Sometimes being an adult means doing things that you don't wanna" is for when you've thought it over and it turns out you would strongly prefer NOT to live with the consequences of Not Doing The Thing.

matt just fired half the remaining tumblr support staff lmao

from my sources adjacent to tumblr--from which i can spread rumors and insider information freely because i dont give a fuck about ever working in the tech sector--im hearing this round of firings was focused on purging the senior staff, and not just from support but from the entire remaining tumblr workforce. i'm hearing there are about 25 people left.

! This is your reminder that for some people healing doesnt mean being happy, it means being sad and angry and cringe and everything they f*ucking want. Its about yourselve and not about your productivity or performance ¡

From personal experience, healing is just about resetting to a state of zero after experiencing harm. In whatever form it takes, it’s not really pleasant in itself

Happiness comes about in being able to thrive

If you ever feel like you don't contribute to fandom because you "only" comment—

A regular serial commenter just joined a fandom Discord server I'm on and people are coming out of the woodwork to thank her for her service to the fandom, expressing how much joy her comments on their works bring them.

Remember—they're never only comments.

If you're a reader who gets nervous about leaving comments, please take a moment to read the notes on this post. The tags alone have been giving me life for the past week, and it's honestly lovely.

People who "only" comment are so so important. I recognise the usernames of people who regularly comment on my fics and I love them all. In fact I love anyone who leaves an uplifting comment on my work, whether it's once or repeatedly. Interaction is so important, it's really nice to feel like you're connecting with people via what you create, even if just for a brief moment.

The Techcrunch article about why Nanowrimo is permanently closing ends on a quote from a Nanowrimo spokesperson so condescending that I can see why the organization collapsed after 25 years. “Too many members of a very large, very engaged community let themselves believe the service to be provided was free.” That’s a YOU problem.

You should write the most niche, indulgent fiction that appeals to you specifically, because it will be much more artistically authentic and valuable than corporate slop that has been focus tested to death to appeal to the widest audience possible.

Write for yourself and you will always be making authentic art that has an uncompromised vision, and you will gain an audience that appreciates that.

“why do you ship them? I thought the ship wasn’t canon?” bro we’re talking about fictional characters, who don’t actually exist in real life, from a media that focuses solely on fictional events that are not real either. so what if these two made-up characters didn’t kiss in their source material? they have lots of nasty gay sex on archive of our own and thousands of novel length slow burn enemies to lovers fics written about them. the fanon content at this point far exceeds the whole canonical franchise. the problem isn’t “it’s not canon” the problem is that you don’t allow yourself to let go of canon and enjoy the wonder of fan contents that are just as good / valid

somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.

and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.

I'm not sure if it helps, but it does entertain me

We often eat pie at work...for morale.

"As a treat" implies a special occasion, a temporary state. "For morale" makes the joy essential, because you have to have good morale to keep going.
