Something something Félix failing to keep a pet because Colt would always zero in on any sentimental attachments and because most animals can sense that Félix is something Weird. This (sort of) doesn’t apply to cold-blooded creatures, which, for the most part, are indifferent to his existence.
In other words, Félix kept snakes as pets— ball pythons because venomous snakes could pose a risk to his mom.
