young non-white actors just do not get the same hype as the likes of timothée chalamet or austin butler and it shows.
I am a Jeremy Allen White (IMO the most talented of the white boys mentioned) stan yet I totally get it (as a black woman and person with common sense). I would love to see John Boyega, Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, John David Washington, etc get the same accolades and attention.
The interesting thing is I hope the rise of Ayo as the IT girl right now changes things for black men and women. She’s unambiguously black, multi talented, and doesn’t have a generic standard Hollywood personality. Why do I bring her up when I started talking about black men? Because at the end of the day, who is the most hated demo? Unambiguous black women. When we get respect I honestly think it will impact the perception of black men. Old folks I was raised by always told me you can tell how a society values a racial group by how it treats the women. I thought that was backwards and dumb but now I get it.

sorry but if i have to see one more ghibli style ai photo filter on any form of social media i will really have to start considering a life without the internet in the deep woods somewhere. like it’s so discouraging all the fucking time when people mindlessly participate in this stupid sort of trend without considering the overarching implications, and in this case it’s particularly egregious and doesn’t even take much thinking to see why it’s bad, when hayao miyazaki has explicitly said that he believes gen ai is an insult to life itself. a hand-drawn animated film is such a labor of love and the work of years, and using that to train ai to create soulless versions of people’s vacation photos in the name of “content”……. oh it’s bad out here.
