ChatGPT uses so much energy that the US is literally reversing course on coal and gas usage to make up for it. In Santa Clara, for example, data centers used 60% of the ENTIRE CITY'S electricity.
ChatGPT uses 1-3 bottles of water for cooling for every query you put into it. This is FRESH WATER, which is evaporated and eventually mostly returns to the ocean, effectively removing a lot of it from our already dwindling fresh water supply on the planet. It also consumes 17 THOUSAND TIMES more electricity than the average American home.
More AI use = more data centers = power drain on local cities = gas, electricity, and water utility prices rise because all of our resources are being funneled into a machine that makes garbage
i think every trans person is pretty conscious of the two paths of "this kind of presentation is comfortable, fun, and fits my self-image" and "this kind of presentation keeps me safe and helps me pass/be respected as my gender". does it suck that we have to make this choice? yes. are there trans people- who lean in either direction- who resent the people who make the other choice? yes. MRAs have run this term to the ground but i genuinely think this is pretty meaningless infighting.
for every trans person, it is THEIR CHOICE how they choose to walk this line. be aware of it and do what we can to enable our freedom and safety, but dont make it about other trans peoples' presentations.

Subjecting a CHILD through a pregnancy as a punishment for having sex is not only stooping so low, but cruel. Do you know what actually helps? Sex ed. Forcing them to continue an unwanted pregnancy and rushing them into parenthood so you can shove it in their face is awful. This isn’t taking away their video games for talking back. This is forcing a child to have a child.
Teen pregnancy carries a high rate of illness and death among both parent and child. You’re willing to risk that for an “I told you so”?

Going through an unplanned pregnancy is a scary experience. Having to get an abortion can be a scary experience if you are young. It’s an experience that you generally want someone who loves and supports you on your side. It’s an experience where many teenagers want their parents help. When instead, they decide to keep it from their parents, my question is not “are they their parents property?” but rather, “why are they choosing not to tell their parents?” Nine times out of ten, it’s because they are genuinely afraid of their parents response. They are scared of being thrown out and becoming homeless, of being sent away to a religious boarding school, of being forced to go through with a pregnancy they do not want, of being abused and in some heartbreaking cases, their parent is the reason they are pregnant in the first place. I want to protect those children in getting the medical procedure they need, not punish them and treat them like they are property.
