Got commissioned by @deludedfantasy for a scene from her fanfic "Ordinary Days". I'm always happy to draw beloved characters for a commission but even more so, when it's for one of my favourite fanfics! Another commission...time for swimming lessons!

One thing I've learnt about designing - like character design for example - is to trust the process, trust the instinct and to let some time pass before reviewing it. That means for one, when I'm starting and don't have the feeling of getting anywhere, to not be pessimistic but simply try out more ideas! A good design isn't something that comes from that one extraordinary spark of creativity, it comes from going through a long process of experiments and singling out those ideas, that fit best! And also- it has to feel right for me. I can come up with something that looks good but still doesn't feel exactly right, exactly fitting...but especially for a character, I will know once I've found something that works. I would like to call this instinct, but it's probably just an impression of an aesthetic that looks nice and works storytelling-wise. And most important though! Let some time pass before reviewing it and working on your designs some more. On the next day I will often find that there's an aspect I forgot to work out, or that I want to stress more, or I might have a clearer head to understand what might not yet be working.

I recently tried to furryfy my ocs (is that a word? it should be). I don't have a lot of practice drawing furry or anthro stuff, but it's fun thinking what animal they would be! I'm still unsure how realistic or simplified I want them to look, so this will require more playing around :) (for info: everyone here is a villain except the little mouse Fan at the top left)

Commission for @allenpaw ! Uh oh someone is NOT going to have a fun time. Someone other will, though. :D

The shooter in the desert

I'm 2 commissions away from my 69th and I'm thinking of coming up with some extra stuff idea for that because wouldn't that be kinda fun...expect a post...sometime soon!

Went to the oculist yesterday and got some eye drops. Behold artistic rendition:

My latest commission for @flipymod was the character design of Light, a young Operez. The Operez are a race of creatures from Flipy's own story, and they are a very intriguing kind of people indeed!

With the clothes I had to work around the bat-like wings that attach more to the back like normal bird wings do. The clothes conceal most of the wings, and often need to be open on the side.

Something different for a change: I made a mockup page for a ficticious childrens book for my portfolio. Wrote a little text for it and designed the two characters. Initially, I pictured the dragon very crocodile like, but trying something new with this tapir-like snout turned out to be more fun and also look more interesting.
