how did you come up with the names for the birrin and chiirah?

Avatar

Over a long period of time and evolution, using phonemes I found I liked.

And then googling the names to make sure they were already common human words!

Say, is it OK to send you asks not directly related to your own idea? Which I do love, and have questions about as well but I was curious if you had like.. An ask policy in I guess as I don't want to bother you XD

Absolutely fine.

How would Birrin react to interlopers? Like visitors from another planet or milkyway?

Avatar

It depends on which birrin. Some would find it super interesting, some terrifying... some would just try and eat the alien.

Where there Birrin military spaceships before the fall, and if so what did they look like?

Avatar

There were uncrewed military vehicles like killsats I should imagine.

What stage production is the other world currently on?

1/4th to 1/3rd art is done, but there have been delays due to health problems and work overlapping.

Hello,

I'm really impressed by the quality of your drawings for your birrin project, it does remind me of the illustrated encycloepdias I used to read when i was a kid (and wich I loved).

Talking of your birrin aliens (whose anatomy is so original and well tougth out), do they use some animals as mounts or are their legs strong and fast enough to make the use of a "horse" creature irrelevant (they kind of appear to me as an alien version of centaurs) ? More generally, do they use animals ("ox"creature, ...) for ploughing or transport ? I remember seeing them working with giants for heavy-lifting but not with non-sapient species.

Can't wait to see more of your work !

The birrin have indeed ridden Giants into battle and for other reasons through their history :)

What do Birrin doors look like? Do they have handles like ours or do they work differently? Are they shorter than our doors? Do the Birrin generally use their heads or their forearms to open doors?

Avatar

Birrin doors are similar to ours but lower since they arent very tall. Door handles are usually worked by the beak and are in the middle as with humans. If they have a door that needs hands to open the controls are lower down since their arms are mounted that way.

How would a Birrin use a bow and arrow? What do Birrin bows look like?

Avatar

I have yet to design them! But I will. They will use the head I imagine.

Do the birrin have nuclear submarines or stealth fighters if they do how would one our do try be sneaky?

Avatar

They have both and have had to use similar techniques to humans: basically minimizing what you reflect.

Do modern day Birrin have any cultural equivalent to furries? I mean, like, the animal costumes and the art and whatnot?

Avatar

They have many subcultures though there would be no direct equivalent to furries, since they have evolved in human culture due to very specific circumstances.

Dont let that stop you from drawing them though :P

Of the small minority of "spiritual" Birrin, what exactly do they believe?

Avatar

Oh many and varied things, perhaps some forms of nature of ancestor worship, or following philosophical ideals. There tends to be only limited amounts of supernatural thought.
