life update:
I've been elbows deep in my last term of character modeling class. For my finals I am modeling the early Black Mercy concept,this will be me for the foreseeable future, wish me luck baybee.

It is Wyll and Karlach having a drink at the reunion party, particularly when Wyll asks with awe if you can smell forest, after their long demon hunting spree in hell. Karlach is looking at Wyll wistfully twirling some blades of grass in her fingers.

Some scattered thoughts on the Odyssey space au:
- Athena is the ship's navigation AI. It slowly degrades over the journey, malfunctioning more as it wears down, but it never really gives out. It is easy to put the blame on her, but Odysseus knows that she would've been fine if the voyage wasn't longer and more treacherous than anticipated .
- Calypso is a planet, she is almost sentient. He has ample of food and shelter on the planet, but something is fucking with his electronics so he can't radio for help he just knows it.
- he talks to a broken, barely responsive Athena like the volleyball in Castaways
- Odysseus' space hobby is still whittling. He tried to whittle the likeness of Penelope out of wood (?) he found on alien planets to pass the time
- He gets affected by some psychoactive plant/animals, has a near death experience where his heart rate drops so low he blacks out and hallucinates his mom and his dead comrades. His crew barely saves him and wakes him up eventually.
- same thing with the sirens btw, only this time he trips balls on purpose to his crew's dismay.
- that's why his men didn't heed his warning about the sacred cattles...big words coming from a guy who voluntarily fucks with the sirens song.
- telemachus, at home, knows his dad is a lost astronaut, and he's so upset that his mom wouldn't let him sign up for space training so that he could go out and find him.
- both Odysseus and Penelope try to imagine how each aged. Penelope tries to extrapolate from Laertes' likeness, Odysseus has nothing to go on so he's just winging it, he's terrified of not recognizing her.

Given how hard it is to find/know anything of how the Trojans might have dressed in the Bronze Age and if you want to visually separate them from Mycenaean Greeks the closest we have are Hittites, we do still have some things in terms of jewellery from Troy.
Unfortunately it's all, like, on either end of the actual time the myths "would" have happened (either much earlier, or much later). Partially because of /cough Schliemann but partially because the top of the citadel was so heavily built on, so much from those particular layers haven't survived. Maybe there will be more to find if the actual city is ever excavated! Still, ignoring that, here's some pictures I've found:
*Especially that necklace of rings in the top right was apparently popular, even around the "right" time in Troy; Trevor Bryce in one of the books I read on Troy mentions that type of necklace as being a regular find.
(I'm choosing stuff not from Schlieman's Priam's Treasure find.)
However, I also found some nice jewellery from Lemnos from around 1300BC~. The island is reasonably close to Troy, so I don't see why one can't steal some inspiration jewellery-wise from that as well as Hittite aesthetics, so here:
(hair decorations first in the top row, then either more hair decorations or earrings. The long, twisted-up thing is an arm ring if I remember correctly.) I do really love that huge horse pin for Troy aesthetics especially!
