Zuko Alone

One of the best episodes in my opinion. Or at the very least one of the most memorable outside of Book 3. I decided to change things up a little bit and base his outfit on Joseon (1392-1897 Korea) fashions. The young woman Song (I'm pretty sure that's her name) that he meets in this arc is also wearing hanbok so I thought I'd keep the theme going!

king andreus used to be everything his daughter, princess leda, could wish for - kind, understanding, brave, and strong as a hurricane - but after the death of the queen and a bloody rebellion that came all too close to succeeding, he’s changed. he’s become cold, even cruel, walled up in the castle, caring nothing for the kingdom and the princess he once loved.

when her tutor mentions a strange queen in the northernmost reaches of the world, a queen of ice and bitter cold who will grant a single wish to anyone who solves her riddle, princess leda conceives a plan. she persuades her reluctant tutor to accompany her on a dangerous trek north, determined to find the snow queen and beg for her father back again.

the journey is long and difficult, but leda is determined to prove herself her father’s heir and win her heart’s desire. but it’s only when she finally comes face to face with the snow queen - and recognizes her - that she realizes she’s trusted the wrong person. she’s walked straight into a trap, and soon even her footprints will be lost forever beneath the gently falling snow.

Bwahahahaha! This picture makes me so ridiculously happy. When the Moon on londonrainings’ laptop (it’s more real than seeing it on mine!) and a mini Tribute Train latte to be sipped while she reads!! :D :D :D

(Tribute Train, by the bye, is ground chocolate meltaways, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, and honey, mixed with espresso and half-and-half and garnished with whipped cream, honey, and toast cubes. Which, if you’re reading WtM, might sound familiar. ;D)

If anyone’s curious, here are two of the other minis that I sent her. (I strongly suspect the absence of a Janek pic is due to LR devouring him - in all of his Cookie Butter glory - too quickly. The man is tasty, and no mistake. ;D)

This one was formerly “The Ginger Bread Man.” :P (I’m calling it “Winter in Twelve” till I think of something cleverer.) It’s cupcake, gingerbread, and maple spice syrups (i.e., A Very Everlark Winter ;D) with a garnish (beautifully assembled here by LR!) of whipped cream, shimmer sugar “snow,” and “coal dust.”

And this is the famous Unnamed Peeta Latte: orange curd, cupcake syrup, nutmeg, orange blossom water - and, of course, half-and-half in place of milk. :D (This one makes my knees wobble at first sip, every time!)

Now I really ought to resume working on my Finnick and Katniss lattes for the next time LR passes through my neck of the woods… :D
