Ooooh my god yes you can!! I’ve been super meaning to write and draw some more about them but I’ve been so busy recently that I’ve not been able to. However I luckily have some downtime right now!! So this is gonna be an insanely long info dump!

First off, James and Jane are a lesbian couple, James is a butch who uses she/he pronouns, and Jane is a femme!

Basically, The Doe’s are two women who live in pre war LA, California! Jane “James” Doe has been an up and coming talk show host over the last decade or so. He started off his career strong, and was able to ride that wave. He’s about 36 now? And he started his show “Late Nights with Mr. Doe” when he was about 27. James is a very very popular woman, especially with the ladies, and has had many documented affairs with the likes of women such as Gilda Broscoe who will come up more later.

Jane Doe (born Jane Temple) on the other hand has been in the spot light since she was just a girl, finding fame as a child on a family sit com type show much like full house, but as she slowly aged out of her show’s popularity, she also aged out of her fame. Losing many different movie and tv roles to more popular actresses, she thought her career was done for, until she got chosen for a spot in an interview in a popular late night television show. She proudly accepted, and that’s where she met James. Her and James hit it off RIGHT AWAY, laughing about the fact both of their birth names were Jane, and how James essentially picked the male equivalent when he got popular, so on so on. The interview went off without a hitch, and James, who was enamored with Jane’s natural beauty and charisma, decided to ask her to dinner after they were done recording. They spent the rest of the evening at a small, cheap diner a few blocks from the studio.

James and Jane instantly became a pair, they were never seen away from each other, and before media could even catch up on it, the two were engaged.

With their coupling, came a minor rebrand at the time, Jane became a regular face on the TV show, and after their marriage, they decided to rename it “Evenings with the Doe’s.” Originally this was supposed to be considered adult tv, think..late night with the devil if it was a show in the fallout universe! But soon after the Jane joined the crew, and soon after their marriage, the Doe’s announced their first baby, and then, their gender reveal on live television.

Very quickly did the does late night talk show become family centered, and with the inclusion of their children, their ratings began to plummet because of it. That leads us to around a year or 2 before the bombs fell, they’re about to be taken off air, their late night time slot filled with someone else, that was until James Doe is approached by a Vault Tec rep. Evenings with the does had turned into America’s perfect idea of a nuclear family, 2 kids, barbecues in the back yard, a hard working, suit wearing husband, and a wife in pearls and heels vacuuming the living room carpet, and Vault Tec needed that. They offered to sponsor the Doe’s show, get them a spot on Sunday Morning family television, in return, the Doe’s package owning a spot in a Vault as part of the American dream, and they accepted.

Mornings with the Does was a weekly thing now, Sunday mornings at 10am. It acted more of a “lesson of the week” type showing more then a talk show. Think the 50s segment of Disney’s Carousel of Progress for a reference to how it would be set up.

Their set transformed from a kitchen in a nice suburban home, to being set in a luxury vault space. The does we’re not only selling the American dream, but they were selling the vaults as part of it. You’re not a modern family, if you don’t have a pre purchased spot.

Now.. despite doing all of this, James and Jane genuinely did not believe that doomsday was coming. They thought they were cashing out on mass hysteria, which honestly is worse then if they believed in it. But that’s not the only thing these two were doing behind the curtain. Despite having a perfect family and face when addressing the rest of the family (their fans), their relationship became increasingly strained.

The family did not live in a suburban house, they lived in the Hollywood hills in a massive modern looking mansion, they did not have family dinners together, they weren’t who they said they were. Barely a night passes without James and Jane having some sort of argument across the house, and at this point in time the family’s Miss Nanny saw their two children far more then James and Jane did.

I wanna push that these two are not good people at ALL, James is an admitted serial cheater, affairs with many women who worked in their show crew, along with women who came on set for their show. And Jane, in retaliation was unfaithful back, using it as revenge. On top of that, both of them are incredibly absent in their children’s lives, and rely heavily on chems and alcohol to get them through the day. So clearly, they’re not in the best spot at all. The whole theme of their story is that they’re selling the perfect nuclear family but they don’t practice those values at all.

Their story continues on into the vault after the bombs fall, which is where the real meat of their characters starts showing it’s colors, but since this text post is already HUGE I’ll talk about it another time! I hope you guys don’t mind this massive info dump 😭 😭
