Being autistic is like screaming through a megaphone โ€œplease donโ€™t overwork me, i WILL explodeโ€ and everyone responds like haha well. Youโ€™ll get used to it over time :)

i need greater societal understanding for the fact that people with autism are just less capable of handling stress and are more likely to become stressed from things that are invisible to others. like can you be nice

"Call me conspiratorial, but when I see the brightly-coloured Instagram posts encouraging me to cut off my friends and focus on myself, I canโ€™t help but notice a convenient side effect of isolation: it forces us to rely on paid relationships in order to grow. The relationship between you and your therapist is transactional and safe, free of the messiness of attachment or stakes or love. And there are times, to be sure, when that can be a very useful relationship to have. But a serious issue arises when professional, unattached relationships are positioned as a replacement (or a requirement) for fulfilling, challenging, passionate ones. When people say that one ought to go to therapy to become a perfectly stable, functional, โ€œhealedโ€ individual before they dare try to experience love or community, they are imagining a world in which a fundamental purpose of human connection has been replaced with a capital exchange. Welcome to the ideal relationship: one between two perfectly realized individuals who would be totally fine alone but choose to hang out because they like splitting rent and watching Law and Order. No passion, no growth, no difficult conversations โ€” thatโ€™s your therapistโ€™s job."

choosing to allocate spoons to hanging out and having a good time at the cost of perfectly completing all your work is not a failing it is in fact an act of survival. โ€œtoo sick to work = too sick to playโ€ is in fact ableist bullshit that you donโ€™t have to buy into. and the fact that leisure time is treated like a privilege is a fucking travesty

United Front: Breasts Without the Airbrush

The shocking thing aboutย Laura Dodsworthโ€™s pictures of 100 womenโ€™s breasts isnโ€™t the flesh on show, or the many shapes and sizes, but the realisation that images of unairbrushed, non-uniform breasts seem to be so rare. โ€œWe see images of breasts everywhere,โ€ says the 41-year-old photographer, โ€œbut theyโ€™re unreal. They create an unflattering comparison but also an unobtainable ideal. I wanted to rehumanise women through honestย photography.โ€

hey uh if you have an unemployed person in your life and they haven't volunteered information about how the job hunt is going, it's probably because it's going badly!!!! and asking said unemployed person how it's going will only make them feel Bad because the job hunt is Bad. I guarantee you that when the unemployed person in your life has a substantial employment update they will tell you about it. otherwise don't ask unless you're literally going to offer them a job. thank youuuuu
