Hey Fam! I'm shifting how my sideblogs work, so I wanted to make sure to have a handy dandy guide for the rest of the universe (and my forgetful brain, but that's neither here nor there XD )

  • alydra: (asks and DMs available) Mainblog is and will always be alydra. Everything that's not my writing goes here. I hope you're excited for my fickle shenanigans.
  • bluejaysarecorvids: (Nothing works here.) This blog is shadowbanned, and nothing I have said to staff has fixed it. But this is my writing handle and you will have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands.
  • bluejay-writes: (asks and DMs available) This is where I'll be posting all of my writing. Pinned post is a masterlist that is on average 98% up to date. It might be missing something if I just started writing for a new fandom, or in the middle of fic binges like the month of October tends to be.

I mean yeah sure online friendships are superficial and you don't really know the person I guess. But there's someone who lives on the other side of the world, who I never would have met if not for very specific circumstances that caused our paths to cross. And that person cares about me and they send me videos that remind them of me and message me their thoughts and tell me that they love me when I'm feeling down. So yeah online friendships don't mean anything I suppose but there's someone who lives an ocean away and they love me, surely that's got to count for something?

Just two happy hualian dolls I crocheted a couple months ago, at first I crocheted xl then hc. They don't have mouth but trust me they're so happy to finally be together ✨

UM GUYS. I JUST NOTICED A CRAZY ISSUE W THE TUMBLR UPDATE.

YOU CAN SEE THE ICONS OF ANONS SOMETIMES.

The way I was able to recognize several anons in one of my inboxes bc of this error. Oh my god. Guys. This isn’t supposed to happen.

Weighing in to say:

YES, I SEE THIS ON MOBILE. HOWEVER I DO **NOT** THINK IT'S SHOWING THE ANON'S REAL IDENTITY.

The profile pictures I see next to anon asks are profile pictures that belong to other, non-anon asks in my ask box also. Some info

  • there are 14 asks in my inbox from the last ~5 days
  • 9 anons, 5 logged in users
  • ALL 14 show pfps, including the 9 anons
  • ALL THE SHOWN PROFILE PICTURES BELONG TO THE 5 LOGGED IN USERS

I think the bug is the inbox INCORRECTLY attributing anons to neighboring, logged-in asks.

Which is still a bad bug! Considering it makes it look like a long-time follower of mine sent me a spam ask.

And is worse if, say, one of these was anon hate.

But it's NOT the anon's real identity. It's a neighboring ask asker's identity

So if you have anon hate in your inbox that looks like it's attributed to your dear friend, who sends you lovely asks all the time, it was Not them.

CONFIRMED THE BUG IS INCORRECT ATTRIBUTION.

Thanks @thepatchycat for being a test subject. As you can see the icon being attributed to this ask is NOT the patchy cat

The pictured icon belongs to @watchingforcomets who sent me a nice ask about nail polish yesterday which I have not yet answered!

Wow, a bug ideal for creating maximum painful interpersonal drama.

so is leitmotif pronounced like "light motif" or like "l33t motif"

Consensus seems to be that the first one is more correct but that the second one is permissible on account of being funny. I think I agree. These motifs ain't for no fuckin casuals.

the other side of creativity and bravery and encouragement and support and to be quite frank - visibility and attention - is that you WILL annoy people! and that is also perfectly okay and part of the bravery of the process - putting stuff out there and sharing it knowing that its purpose is NOT to be Loved By All. It is to CONNECT you with other people who will UNDERSTAND you not to grovel for clout from people who aren’t really interested. we don’t make things to be liked by bots. we make them to find each other.

Congratudolences: For when a friend has joyfully started an unreasonably large/finicky/complicated project.
