for sure. given the fact that historical evidence traces the modern popularity of embalming in funerary practices to the death of Abraham Lincoln and his early embrace in the practice of being embalmed (it is often assumed he is in fact the first president to be embalmed), it can be safely assumed that Jackson wasn't embalmed. Abraham Lincoln died in 1865, while Jackson died in 1845 and the 20 years that separated their deaths signifies a huge gap in the post-death process. Jackson himself was buried in a limestone tomb instead of a casket, and while the structure of tombs provides a somewhat stable seal that seal is not airtight and thus, nearly 200 years post-death, the lack of this airtightness would lead to the decomposition of the body. So yes, he is certainly dead, and he is certainly decomposed!
#man im sure you wanted a silly answer but im an anthropology major dude burial practices and funerary peactices are super interesting to me#this stuff is so cool. like how sick is it that the popularity of embalming can in part be teaced back to abe lincoln?#theres been vague talks of moving jacksons body to a different place but i doubt thatll actually happen#the tomb he and his wife rachel are in was custom designed and holds historical significance. i dont think theyd want to upset this by#moving his body even if it were to federal property. its a whole thing.#but if that did happen...you could know for sure. the state his body is in i suppose.
hey guys. this blog was made as a silly gimmick based off a joke in my AP history class in high school and I still think it's funny (I hate andrew Jackson with a passion) and I think it's funnier that it's gaining a little traction recently? like several followers a day. that being said, do not look for or ask for my main blogs outside of this one. most of you I've noticed are minors, which is fine here, but I am not and I keep all my other accounts strictly MDNI and feel I have an obligation to keep yall away from the sort of content I create/consume/reblog/etc. on those accounts.
