Where were you in 1994 ? The Crow premiered in movie theaters; Projekt Records had Lycia, Love Spirals Downwards, and Voltaire on their label, and the Goth subculture was riding the peak of its second wave.
At the center of it was Carpe Noctem magazine, a “dark arts” publication that covered the likes of writers Neil Gaiman and Caitlin R. Kiernan; artists Dave McKean and Jon J Muth; and bands like Trio Nocturna, Faith And The Muse, and former members of Christian Death.
Sadly, the magazine faded after almost 10 years in publication; In the time between then and now, Carpe Noctem has been wistfully remembered in late-night coffee shops, online forums, and Goth clubs across America; And old copies of the magazine sell for premium prices on eBay.
Now, for its 20th anniversary, Carpe Noctem is returning! Its KickStarter launched three days ago. (And, as of this writing, it is already 50% funded.) If you want your own copy of the new Carpe Noctem, all you need to do is pledge $10. If you pledge a bit more, you can get nice packages of extras that include t-shirts, stickers, and e-books!
