currently thinking about how siffrin forgets basic words sometimes
i suffered from the same phenomenon a couple days ago, where i forgot the word for ‘net’ (like as in a volleyball net). its important to note though that i was speaking in my second language when it happened. even though i’ve been speaking it for a decade at this point and use it daily i still forget basic words an embarrassing amount.
look ok just listen to me here. we know that vaugardian is siffrin’s second language, and despite the fact that he’s been speaking the language for a long time every single day, he still forget basic words. which, as we’ve established, is not out of the ordinary
but since siffrin has no memory of their first language (whatever language they spoke on the island), it makes it seem like their memory problems are way worse than they actually are. and then they beat themselves up over it because of course they do siffrinnnnnnnnn when i catch you siffringhggnjghgjgjg oughhhhhgggggggg siffrinnn…
