Katamari Cousin Anatomy!

The species we see in the Katamari games are known as Cosmics, and they have fairly interesting anatomy!
For one, the "pillow" like structure around their heads and/or other parts of their body are actually a part of them, fungal, in fact!
Cosmics are a crossbreed of fungus and mammalian parts, giving them all somewhat familiar but unique appearances. Any non-mammalian or "squishy" parts are a thick, spongey mushroom-like fungus that grows around their skeleton.
While any flesh/skeleton is encapsulated by the fungus, their antenna directly roots into their skull and into their brain!
Some Cosmics are covered in fungus (seen here with Nutsuo), while others only have some around the head.
More or less fungus on a Cosmic isn't seen as good or bad, just different :)
Losing any of their fungal parts in an injury is pretty bad though
While it DOES grow back, the Cosmic during that time has severely impaired cognitive functions, and overall has far less energy. Healing takes a lot of energy, and losing that fungal part of them is like losing part of their brain essentially.
There's nothing that can really speed up the healing process, so bedrest and taking it easy is all the doctor can prescribe! :] (not that they'll be capable of doing much else)
