Sirius Black is the outsider of his family who chafes against the rigidity of pureblood society and the expectations of being the Black heir.

In a last ditch effort to bring him into line, Arcturus Black has negotiated a match with a pure-blood Italian girl.

Set against the lush backdrop of Wizarding Italy family tensions simmer and come to a boiling point.

This is the story of the week leading up to Sirius leaving his family, setting Regulus on the path of destruction.

Set in an AU where Voldemort is never born.

James and Sirius are both the best of friends and brilliant wizards, and not wanting to be tied down to a 9-to-5, they founded a detective agency.

A year in, they have had a steady business from scorned spouses until one day a woman arrives and draws them into a sinister plot in the Scottish Highlands.

If I was desperate for kudos I would not be out here posting villain ships, minor character rarepairs, and other deeply unpopular ships.

I know how to write popular fic. I know how to farm kudos. That's not what I'm here for.

"Readers need to remember that authors don't know a reader liked their fic unless the reader tells them by leaving a kudos or a comment" does not mean "waahhh waahhh I need attention!"

It means "even if writers write purely for themselves, if you don't bother to interact with writers when you do enjoy their work, they might stop posting and just keep their work to themselves."

"If you enjoy a work you should kudos or comment" is not aimed at the people who aren't reading the fanfiction in question.

"If you enjoy a work you should kudos or comment" is not aimed at the people who did not enjoy the fanfiction in question.

"If you enjoy a work you should kudos or comment" is aimed at people who read a fanfiction, enjoyed it, and then didn't bother to even do the bare minimum to share their excitement about it with the work's creator, even though that excitement is literally the only thing they get in return for posting their work.

Fanfiction authors write because they enjoy writing. They post because they want to form a connection with the people who enjoyed their work.

This is not an attempt to scold anyone, I literally don't care if I get kudos or not. It's simply an attempt to remind people that fanfiction is a community, and fan authors can't read your mind.

THIS THIS THIS

Look, I write A LOT.

I work with heritage organizations professionally, helping tell their histories in engaging ways. It's important work, but it's faceless. My name isn't on most of what I write.

But fanfiction? Fanfiction is an act of COMMUNITY. I write fan fiction because I want to connect with others, to explore our common humanity. These are my words, and they do belong to me, but they belong to YOU too.

If no one interacts with my work, it isn't that it bruises my ego or whatever. It is that I am not making the connection. I share my words because I want to TALK TO YOU about it. And in fact, the community I create in my fan spaces gives me the energy to do the faceless work that I believe is very important but isn't validating to me personally in the same way.

Please, comment, leave kudos, ask questions! Humans are social creatures, so let's socialize.

If no one interacts with my work, it isn't that it bruises my ego or whatever. It is that I am not making the connection. I share my words because I want to TALK TO YOU about it.

Exactly!

I know you've mentioned before that you think Sirius would be all-in when he's in love, but could you ever imagine him being in love with someone but being too afraid to fully commit? Like I see him as very self-sufficient and it completely freaking him out to have such deep feelings for another person and having to share his life, especially when his parents' marriage wasn't exactly the model relationship...

So I don't see him as a commitmentphobe, but I can see him struggling to believe someone loves him (in a similar manner to how he gets all bashful when he's asking Harry to move in with him, and how this contrasts with how comfortably murderous he is a few minutes previously).

He wouldn't freak out at loving someone deeply and being willing to sacrifice everything for them (we see him do that for Harry), but he would need a bit of coaxing to trust that someone loves him (sort of like a feral cat).

Anonymous asked:

Do you think if Sirius and Regulus had united against Voldemort they could have defeated him?

Yes and No.

While I certainly think they would have the combined intelligence to do it.

Both can be very fatalistic and leap without thinking (there are strong parallels between the Horcrux note and Sirius handing over his motorcycle so he can go after Peter). So when I imagine a Black brother's horcrux hunt, it's usually with a project manager in tow (someone who can talk them down and actually help rein in their impulsivity).

Art snobs are actually a thousand times less annoying than people who respond to everything with "it's not that deep bro"

*guy who hasnโ€™t read a book since he was 7 years old voice* itโ€™s not that deep bro

Obsessed with Empire of the Vampire. Devoured the 700 page book over the weekend.

Itโ€™s a tad dude bro-y for my taste, but I did enjoy it.

Especially love how Gabriel de Leon is a Sirius Black variant.

Chloe Sauvage and Astrid Rennier because Iโ€™ve been sitting in musical rehearsals the whole day and so I might as well reread Empire Of The Vampire and draw my favorite nuns in training.
