I Just Want Cake

@asexuality101

Your local aegosexual😌💜🤍🖤

For questioning folks...

Hey you. I see you there “testing yourself.” Looking around at people and trying to see if you’re attracted to them or not. Gauging your physical/mental reactions to different people like some kind of scientist. I see you trying to force something that isn’t coming naturally (or deny something that is). Imagining different scenarios with people and trying to figure out if you’re into them or not.

I see you taking every sexuality quiz you can find. Watching video after video, reading a million different articles.

I see you up at all hours stressed, confused, just wanting literally anyone to give you a solid answer one way or another.

Stop. Take a breath.

I know this is might be annoying to hear right now, but just give it time. So many of us have been right where you are.

It’s gonna be okay.

Hi, I just recently realized I'm definitely ace because for like the past 6-7 years (I'm 18 now btw) since I learned about sexual attraction as a thing people experience my brain didn't even process the idea that I might just not do that and immediately grabbed the closest thing I experience to that (aesthetic attraction), and went "ah yes this is that thing that I definitely have because this is definitely it" and I've been just working off of that until like a month ago and it's wild

Amen to that. Figuring out I was ace was one of the trippiest experiences I’ve had, closely followed by my more recent discovery that I’m probably aro as well. I always only had friends that were girls (I am too) and I thought the reason I’d never had a “sexual experience” was because I’d never had the chance. It was only once I got to high school that I started to realize that yeah, that’s not really now that works. Also it was freshman year when I first heard the term, from a friend of mine who had an ace brother. And now here I am.

Congrats for figuring yourself out! I’m 18 too btw! If you need tips on coming out... actually don’t come to me. I’m a terrible person for that—my parents are pretty progressive and I came out when my mom asked me why I was so obsessed with gay books which, like, wasn’t even planned, so my experience wasn’t exactly normal. But definitely hit up some other ace tumblrs, I know they’re always happy to help! This little ace community on tumblr is one of the sweetest groups of people ever. Ok, I’m on a tangent now. I do this a lot lol. Congrats again! Welcome to the community!

Figuring out your in the a-spec can be a really long and hard process, finding the right label can sometimes be even more confusing

Just remember, it’s okay to experiment with labels, it’s okay to question, and we all love and support you in the a-spec community, most of us have been where you are and we’ve got your back :)

so... I guess part of being aspec is sort of not understanding other people’s attraction but accepting it’s valid anyway?

A member of the aegosexual community helped "pretty up" the flag (make things more even and what not) and this person gave this suggestion for what each color means. We will be using this from now on when someone asks about the colors for this specific flag (right now there's 3 aegosexual flags floating around).

Colors from top to bottom:

  • Purple for community
  • Gray for the entire spectrum of asexuality
  • Teal for disconnection between self and attraction
  • Black for asexuality
