Alexa, no matter how far, no matter how secluded, could always feel Duxreena's eyes on her.
+ little animation
First drawing in Clip studio! really liking how it feels to draw but i'm still getting used to the UI.
I like to think that poorer mudwing homes would just slowly merge into a apartment style building with winding hallways, while richer mudwing homes have a planned layout and A LOT of painting on the outside to show off.
The Binding horns of BigWings are used to represent the bond between a BigWings and their sibs. the holes in their horns are pieces given to each sib, so that they will always be together.
The horns were inspired by Sarmatian horses. The rest of the clothing is based on many traditional European and eastern European countries, mostly Russia and Slovakia with extra bits added.
I liked the Idea that rich MudWings wear really bright and fancy clothing, kinda being obsessed with everything being covered in different patterns and colours.
The Shulek are a sapient alien species on the planet Rhea. They are forest dwellers lead by a matriarch and live in small communities or flocks. They "speak" through the holes in their crests, using the wind or air they breathe to create sound. The Shulek are highly musical and artistic people. They use their ribbon-like structures in dance and storytelling.
Many SkyWings live in these towers, which are large and have rooms that spiral upwards. The flowering tops of the buildings collect rain, all the water runs down the centre of the tower where the residents can collect it and then it runs out into the mountains below. The tops of the buildings also serve as meeting places.
The nestโevery building in the sky kingdom will have a "nest," a place where birds are protected and housed. A birdkeeper is responsible for protecting and researching birds. They are travelers and a tight-knit community. Every full moon, they gather to discuss bird behavior, habitat, the current status of the species, and any other information.
Spoonbills have to be one of the most beautiful bird I've ever seen, so I had to try let it live up to its name (Royal spoonbill).
I really enjoyed the colouring for this. I added a lot of gradient maps to the feathers to try give it a kind of subtle green, it's not as obvious as my sketch but I'm really happy with how it turned out.
