fic rec friday!

Set before the events of Andor, just before the team arrives on Aldhani.

***

“I saw you.”

Kleya’s tone was even, hard, and—smug, despite her restraint. Vel clenched her jaw. Kleya had only agreed to meet with her in this obscure Coruscant alleyway to hear how her factfinding mission to Aldhani with Cinta had gone. Of course she would think of some way to show Vel she still held more information.

“Saw me what?” Vel countered, refusing to take the bait.

“You, and Cinta, by the fountain, where you are not supposed to be, unless communicating a message.”

[Prompt list] [rebellion-era, relationship status is kind of up to interpretation here, rate T]

Luke had learned what the different controls on the Falcon's dashboard did a long time ago. Some were consistent with his X-Wing, and others he'd seen Han handle enough times to figure out on his own. Still, Han insisted on over explaining every component of it from the Co-Pilot's seat.

"Han," Luke said, rolling his eyes at another explanation, "I'm a great pilot."

"With an X-Wing, and that's barely a step up from a speeder. You've never flown a freighter like this before, kid." He fiddled with more controls that Luke was sure didn't need to be fiddled with. They barely broken through the atmosphere, and were enjoying a nice sub-light cruise around the planet. Even if Luke had never flown anything before, there wasn't a thing to worry about. That didn't stop Han.

"A lot of the controls are the same," Luke said. "Don't you trust me?" He asked.

Han slipped out of the co-pilots chair and crouched a little next to Luke, draping his arm over his shoulder. Luke thought he might just yank him out of the seat all together.

"Well, sure I trust you," Han said, "I just worry about your level of experience."

Luke huffed. "I have plenty of experience, and you know it. I've been flying since long before we even met. I just think you don't like flying co-pilot."

"I don't have any problems with being co-pilot," Han said, standing up straight, leaving just a hand on Luke's shoulder.

"Oh please, you've done nothing but try to annoy me out of the captain's chair," Luke said.

"That's not --" he started. "Look, I'll fly in any position, I'm versatile."

Luke smiled and leaned forward to adjust some controls. "Sure, Han."

I couldn’t help but think of this post when I was drawing the first/last piece lol

Also, I didn’t plan to add the necklace until the last minute, but I just really want something screams DINLUKE on him so I took the design I saw in the fic Crash and Burn. A mudhorn inside the Mandalorian iron heart.

“Lando guessed that was where Luke got his humility. His kindness. His gentle faith that people could change for the better. That must have been why he rarely smiled, and almost never made jokes. Because that goodness was all he really had. It was his lifeline. The rope to which he clung, dangling above the abyss.”

Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor by Matthew Stover

Together & Parted

I’ve been working on a longer Dinluke fic that’s a fix-it/hopeful prediction for season 3 of The Mandalorian and I’d be so pleased if you checked it out.

Summary: In the aftermath of Grogu’s departure from his school, Luke is visited by the person he most wants to talk to, and their conversation leads to a series of events that changes the Jedi Order and Mandalore.

Rating: Teen & up

Excerpt from the third chapter:

Luke’s green blade did not pause, whirling around them, guided by the Force. Holding on tight to Grogu, he jumped up, landing on a storage crate, then leapt again, summersaulting off and tucking into a roll that brought them to a defensive position beside a Recon transport.

An AT-ST honed in on them and without hesitating, Luke held out a hand, slamming the full weight of his power into it. Its cockpit crumpled as it crashed down, and Luke stared at it for a moment: he’d never taken down something this big with just the Force before, and his power frightened him. Then renewed shouts signaled a double effort was being organized against the Jedi and Luke quickly cleared his mind.
