Hi, I'm Avee!

I like finding obscure details and talking about the story, characters, and lore in my fandoms. I sometimes post art and edits.

Favorite Characters:

  • 🔫 Vash (Trigun)
  • ♦️ Zagreus (Hades)
  • 🃏 Atem (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Favorite Ships:

  • 🐍 Anyone/Favorite character listed above (fixed)

When Orange had a Trigun event in 2023, I noticed something strange…

They presented a lot of concept art, but among them was a copy of "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" by Ursula K. Le Guin.

What do you think is the connection between the two stories?

I have my own little archive for Studio Orange's Trigun!

It contains some pretty obscure stuff! Admittedly, I’m not as dedicated to archiving and translating as some fans, so feel free to add it to your own Trigun archive. It’s also free to download and use for theories and analysis. Just make sure to read the README files in the folders for clarifications.

Available folders (I will reblog if I add more):

  • Pre-Broadcast Event Concept Art – Over 150 concept art that you may not have seen before. It also includes a possible timeline for Trigun Stargaze. I translated some of its content (e.g. the world map and file names).
  • Sakuracon 2023: Studio Orange Interview – This insightful interview about the show and characters was deleted after the radio station shut down.
  • Website Backgrounds – Backgrounds from the official website.
  • On-Screen Text Transcripts – Transcripts of hard-to-read documents from the show, such as Nightow's news article.
  • Story Conceptual Fragments – Includes the transcript of the corrupted file along with both English and Japanese versions of the fragments.

Trigun's official account has finally confirmed: Trigun Stargaze will air in 2026 with a new director, Masako Sato. The website has also been updated.

(A quick reminder to non-JP fans that "完結編" means "final phase", but Google Translate may translate this as "final episode".)

Wolfwood was selected by the Eye of Michael through a recommendation-based exam (推薦試験). The term was new to me, so I looked it up: In Japan, schools can recommend competent students to universities and they undergo a different screening process from the standard entrance exam.

EOM obviously isn’t a university, but if the process is recommendation-based, then I wonder if the orphanage made selections of children who will take the exam. God, I hope Miss Melanie wasn’t involved in that, especially in choosing Wolfwood…

Anyway, if anyone more familiar with this admission process can put in their two cents, that would be really helpful since I've only experienced the conventional entrance exams. Also! I don’t mind that CR translated 推薦試験 as a selection test since it still conveys that Wolfwood passed an exam. I'm just really curious if a tiny bit of worldbuilding has been lost by leaving out the recommendation aspect of it.

Vash is playing the exact same notes as the pinging noises in the ending scene, which means he can either hear the Earth Fleet's arrival or Home's attempts to communicate with them from afar.

Remember when Zazie said worms and plants have a wider hearing range than humans in episode 4? It may be a subtle hint for this scene all along. If Zazie knows about the approaching fleet, then Vash probably does too.

It's really sad though, because instead of celebrating, Vash is being weighed down by his grief over July’s destruction and Nai’s "death" (unless he genuinely has amnesia and he's just playing what he hears).

I also wondered if Vash himself might be the one causing the pinging noises in the ending scene, like a call for help to the Earth fleet. But this seems unlikely because how could a simple piano even reach them?

I LOVE the different plant designs in Trigun: the grotesque angels in the manga, the elves in 98, the flower nymphs in Stampede, and sure, let's include the sirens from Stampede's concept art.

While I'm drawn to the manga's body horror, I started appreciating the other designs too when I realized how well they suit their respective medium and story setting.

I'm back!

I decided to revive my Tumblr account, where I'll be reposting some of my fandom-related posts from Bluesky and Twitter (Yes, I'm still in the Trigun and Hades fandom!). You might notice that I’ll be editing some of my reposts from lapslock to sentence case, but that’s just for consistency and readability.

Thank you to those who are still following me despite the inactivity!

Sakuracon 2023: Studio Orange Interview

(I just learned that Japan-A-Radio has ceased operations so the interview with the director and producers of Trigun Stampede is no longer in their website. It has a lot of interesting information about Trigun Stampede so I'm reposting it here.)

Sakuracon 2023 – Studio Orange Interview

By Jun Hong Pua, Sean Cruz, Matthew Fu & Lisa Su Transcribed by Jun Hong Pua Edited by Sean Cruz

Japan-A-Radio was part of a round table interview with Director Kenji Muto, and Producers Waki Kiyotaka & Yoshihiro Watanabe, members of Studio Orange, the team behind Trigun Stampede, to round out Sakuracon 2023 Sunday Afternoon. Producer Yoshihiro Watanabe started off with a brief introduction.

Yoshihiro Watanabe (W): I mainly do the distribution or strategic side of Trigun. Kiyotaka and I are from Studio Orange but Muto is a freelancer so he's only tied to our studio on a project basis.

I know it's been five years in the making, but why Trigun again?

Waki Kiyotaka (K): There are two big reasons why we chose to work on Trigun Stampede this time around. The first big reason would be that we were actually contacted by the producer, Katsuhiro Takei, who is a big fan of the original Trigun anime, and he'd always wanted to work on another anime version of Trigun.

Here's my attempt at translating the map of No Man's Land which was shown in the pre-broadcast event. I tagged this as a spoiler because the text in red might be future episode titles.

I know Vash and Knives are having an epic fight and all, but look at Meryl running and slipping on the spilled plant solution and Conrad pulling her to safety in the background. 🤣

HELLO?????? THIS IS ADORABLE??????????

The first image actually shows that the retractable cord is for your keys! You can grab your keys faster and you're less likely to lose them if you do it like pic below:

But if you want to hang him upside-down because he's bringing too much sunshine when he's right side up, then why not?

Hades video game family tree that I made before Hades 2 was announced. It only includes titans and gods who are at least mentioned/implied to exist in the first game. I'll make a new (and better-looking) one for Hades 2 of course.

These concept art of Knives look so cool! 😭 I hope he looks something like this in Final Phase.

Where did you find it??! (⊙_⊙) (⊙_⊙)

Nai in his childhood looked too much at works of artist Giger. And shouldn't have to play Dead Space. ))

It's from a pre-broadcast event where they showed a lot of concept art and reference sheets! I forgot where I got these concept art of Knives (because I just found them while cleaning up my files) but I found these threads on Twitter and Plurk if you'd like to see more pictures from the event.

Studio Orange probably saw this post (no they didn't) because the recording of said event just got uploaded on Youtube! Have fun!
