I mean this kindly, as I agree with the premise, but if you want people to play ttrpgs other than D&D, you need to start talking about why those games are enjoyable, instead of making fun of people for homebrewing in 5e for the umpteenth time
Furthermore, it's not good enough to simply list a summary of alternatives. That's not talking about why other systems are fun. You know what D&D has in excess? Stories. So many stories and comics and podcasts; stories that make people want to participate and play and make stories for themselves. You aren't going to convince anyone by criticizing them and then providing half-hearted alternatives. Say what you love about your system with your chest, loudly and unashamedly. Share your own stories. And if you dont have any, well... maybe you need to branch out.
okay so I literally just hosted a “non-5E oneshot event” for a school d&d server where a bunch of GMs volunteered to run oneshots in other ttrpg systems. players are having a BLAST looking at some of the oddly specific game systems and themes out there.
don’t explain why 5E is bad or boring. say “hey look at this funky thing I found” and let people go wild over discovering an Arthurian legends style knight tabletop game where you roll 1d6 + 1d12 to determine your class is a real thing and exists
