anton omelchenko was the ukrainian (referred to as russian) groom hired by meares to be oates's assistant and help take care of the ponies. he was 27, only 4'11" but "exceedingly strong" according to cherry.
and though he strongly disliked the conditions in antarctica he was very loyal to oates — scott described him as oates's "satellite":

The Bible says there are no surjections from a set A to its powerset; if God isn't real, then there must be a surjection f: A ---> P(A), so there is an element a∈A such that f(a)={x∈A: ¬x∈f(x)}. But then a can't be an element of f(a) and neither can it not be an element of f(a), checkmate atheists.
