So I really love all the Aeducan family dynamics where Trian, the Dwarf Noble, and Bhelen all have different mothers (or combinations of different mothers), but what I ended up doing was having all three of them from the same mother because Enrdin was the son of a concubine. And he figured "hey, if they're all full siblings they're not going to do any kinslaying look at me I broke the toxic family cycle dad of the year. Now what's the name of my youngest son again?"

I used to always play a mage in DAI so when Solas says in the Hinterlands, “It must be some time since the Templars faced a mage of any talent” and I legit thought he was complimenting my mage PC. I’ve since realised that he says that regardless of class. So he’s just giving himself a lil pat on the back. Typical.

still thinking about how weird as hell it was for datv to assert that the darkspawn are just mindless manifestations of evil incarnate and the only solution to them is a wanton massacre when the reality is not only much more interesting just also far more horrifying. remember the mother in awakening. remember how her whole thing was that she went mad because she was suddenly cognizant of what happened to her and what she is.

I am curious- Aeducan and Brosca fam, give me your Endrin Aeducan Junior (Bhelen's son) headcanons. Do you think Bhelen would be a good father? Do you think Endrin ends up being an only kid or does he have siblings? How does he continiue the good Aeducan traditions of having daddy issues?

The really unfortunate thing about Minrathous in Veilguard is that there was such a clear model for how it could’ve worked when you look at Orzammar in Origins.
In DAO, you’re given a chance to play as both the absolute pinnacle of dwarven social standing and as someone who’s completely at the bottom. During both these origins, you get to see how their society works (or rather, doesn’t) and the impact that it has on those around you. A particular moment that stood out to me with Brosca is that multiple people raise the idea of going to the surface, and it’s brushed off because that’s even worse than being casteless in Orzammar. Certain institutions run quite deep and while a progressive ruler does begin to change things, it doesn’t happen overnight, and he’s faced with multiple assassination attempts.
And then there’s Veilguard who doesn’t really address anything too deep about Minrathous, nothing to see move along, we’ll just get rid of slavery because the common people all agree it’s terrible! No one could possibly have shitty attitudes shaped by their culture, especially not some of our leaders who were slave owners barely more than a decade ago!
