hello!! my name is Denise. as some of you know, i am organizing this campaign on behalf of my friend Mahmoud and his sister's family, including her young children. here are some photos that Mahmoud shared with me from before and after the siege on Gaza began:

Mahmoud was able to safely cross the border to Egypt over the summer, but several of his family members remain displaced inside Gaza. Mahmoud's campaign to evacuate the Gaza Strip was previously verified by el-shab-hussein/nabulsi (he's #124 on this spreadsheet). he's now trying to assist his family in evacuating.

this campaign is for his 4 nephews, including little Karim who is pictured above, and their family to escape Gaza. the funds will be used to help them survive in Gaza now, to potentially cross the border when it's possible to do so, and for future living expenses once they make it to Egypt. at this time, they are living in makeshift tents in a refugee camp. here are some images of the family's living conditions:

while the ceasefire is incredible news, people in Gaza are still suffering and will continue to do so. firstly, the ceasefire is not set to begin until Sunday, 1/19/25. historically, "israel" has ramped up violence in the days preceding a planned ceasefire. this weekend will likely be deadly for Gaza.

even if & when the onslaught stops, thousands of family homes have been destroyed that will need to be rebuilt. and even if & when the Rafah border is opened, it will still costs thousands of dollars PER PERSON to cross. there are still literal millions of starving and sick people in Gaza who will need our help, including Karim and his family. all of this is to say -
