Diy printed and published as part of the Zinemachine residency program held at Ta Tarbut Mehoga, Tel Aviv.
Various spiritual beliefs consider an "aura" to be an encompassing energetic field surrounding a person, animal or object, similar to the religious halo - which has been used throughout the iconography of many religions to signify a figure's holiness or sacredness.
Stemming from an aesthetic and thematic merge between notions of the holy halo/aura in art history; the organic, botanical, twisting and curving visual world of Art Nouveau, a movement that sought to express the harmony of nature in art and design, with a specific emphasis on the use of decorated and embellished frame/ornament forms; through the mystical and philosophical artworks of Romantic poet and painter William Blake, who seeked after the divine in the physical world and viewed imagination as the closest venture towards "the body of God" or "human existence in itself"; and examining Miró's surreal symbolism and pictorial language; I wish to unravel and delve in a poetic, scrawled, stained manner - into the fuse between humanity and the sublime, while repurposing a figure's frame/decoration as a spiritual aura. Crawling spider-esque creatures/thoughts/shimmers, earthly dreams and ethereal grounds.
