RIP Val Kilmer - Batman Forever
Looney Tunes Super Stars: Porky & Friends DVD Review
This is a rerelease from Warner Bros. which was originally came out on DVD back in 2012. These 18 Looney Toons shorts have been remastered and spotlight Porky and include such classics like "Tom Turk and Daffy", and "Wagon Heels". Porky’s one of WB's marque characters, probably most known for his catchphrase, "That’s all folks!" These shorts were made between 1944 and 1969 and each have a runtime between 6 and 7 minutes. Most, but not all features Porky Pig with a couple of Merrie Melodies round out this release.
Looney Tunes are one of America's greatest entertainment treasures, funny music and voice acting accent amazing animation that is truly enjoyable for fans of all ages. To think that I'm still laughing at these shorts over 50 years later is remarkable. With the short timeframes of 6 to 7 minutes, you'll almost never be bored and can enjoy multiple episodes in a very short amount of time.
Shorts included in this set:
1. Tom Turk and Daffy (1944) 7 minutes 2. Wagon Heels (1945) 7 minutes 3. Mouse Menace (1946) 7 minutes 4. One Meat Brawl (1947) 7minutes 5. Curtain Razor (1949) 7 minutes 6. VIDEO QUALITY 📽️ : C
It's a shame this wasn't rereleased on blu-ray in HD. Animation really shines on HD format. Here you'll find every short in NTSC standard definition and all are just average in terms of picture quality.
AUDIO QUALITY 🔈 : C
Don't expect anything out of the ordinary here. Every short is in mono which is what you would anticipate considering when these cartoons were originally produced.
EXTRAS 📀 : F
There are zero extras here. No digital downloads or even one of those token documentaries.
OVERALL GRADE: C
Although these are still fantastic cartoons there is nothing special here. Warner Bros. needs to keep on releasing the old Looney Tunes, but in the HD format only. Fortunately, the cheap asking price makes this release appealing enough to snatch up.
Looney Tunes Super Stars: Porky & Friends is available now and can be purchased at Amazon.

Batman & Robin - 1/6th scale Mr. Freeze Collectible Figure
(Deluxe Version)
Dr. Victor Fries is a scientist who dedicates his research to finding a cure for his wife Nora's disease. However, an experimental accident changed his body so he could only live in freezing temperatures. To survive, he created a special suit that maintained his body at the right temperature and became Mr. Freeze. In order to continue his research for Nora's cure, Mr. Freeze created a device called the "freezing engine," which is so powerful that it could freeze Gotham.
Hot Toys is excited to bring the meticulously detailed 1/6th scale Mr. Freeze collectible figure to fans. The reflective and metallic finish on the armor certainly elevates the collectible to the next level.
Expertly crafted based on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s portrayal of Mr. Freeze in the movie, the figure features a newly developed head sculpt with ice-blue skin and realistic skin texture. Mr. Freeze’s specialized suit is faithfully recreated with a black and silver striped under-suit and layered armor pieces on top. Meanwhile, the armor is meticulously plated with metallic finishes and includes translucent and iridescent color parts on the upper arms, chest, thighs, and calves to enhance the futuristic aesthetic and add an extra sense of coldness for the figure. Additionally, LED-lighted design is featured on the armor, the detachable helmet, and his Freeze gun with an attachable freeze beam accessory, allowing fans to display him in dynamic ways.
The Deluxe Version exclusively includes newly developed glider wings with metallic finish and a frozen environment-themed diorama figure base.
Reserve your Mr. Freeze figure now to bring the screen to life alongside your Batman and Robin display.
The Penguin: Season 1 [4K UHD] Review
When it was announced that there was a spinoff series in the works based on the recent Dark Knight film, THE BATMAN, I was immediately skeptical. The idea of a Batman inspired series, without any appearances by Caped Crusader himself, did not sound that inviting. Additionally, outside the makeup artist's work of converting Colin Farrell into the Bat-villain, I really wasn't even that enamored with this version of the Penguin (after watching THE BATMAN). Fast forward to actually sitting down and watching the premiere episode of THE PENGUIN titled, 'After Hours'. Right off the bat there is a surprising moment and "boom", it has my attention.
Michael Zegen (Alberto Falcone) and Colin Farrell (Oz Cobb)
Watching Oz snake his way to top of Gotham's underworld takes many unpredictable turns. In his way to fame and fortune is Sofia Falcone, who is effectively portrayed by Cristin Milioti. Many comic book fans will remember Sofia playing a major role in the classic story arc, Batman: The Long Halloween. Although Cristin Milioti is much easier on the eyes than Tim Sale's vision of her in the comic book pages of The Long Halloween, her toughness and grit are still evident.
Colin Farrell (Oz Cobb) with Cristin Milioti (Sofia Falcone)
Also in the mix here is an odd kind of father and son relationship (or mentor and mentee) between Oz and Victor Aguilar (portrayed by Rhenzy Feliz). Victor is probably the most likable character in this series. Although several characters evolve in the 8-episode series, the only character I actively cheered for was Vic.
Rhenzy Feliz (Victor Aguilar)
The most bizarre and troubling relationship has to be the mother and son one. Francis Cobb (Deirdre O'Connell) is The Penguin's mom, and Oz goes through great lengths to win his mother's favor. His past and current relationship shaped Oz into the person he has become.
Deirdre O'Connell (Francis Cobb) with Ryder Allen (Young Oz)
Primary writer Lauren LeFranc weaves together a number of fascinating characters and plot points that were truly gripping, with an ending that will punch a hole in your chest and rip out your heart.

Although there are 17 five-minute shorts exploring the series and how they created it, the lack of digital code for mobile devices is always a huge letdown.
OVERALL GRADE: A-
THE PENGUIN was the surprise hit of 2024. It is well acted, shot and written. Colin Farrell sits atop the apex of this incredibly solid cast and Lauren LeFranc's scripts are far more interesting than the last Caped Crusader film, THE BATMAN. Although the violence is sometime excessive, THE PENGUIN has enough heart and surprises to keep the viewer at home glued to their seat.
THE PENGUIN will be available on March 18, 2025.

THE BATMAN 2 GETS DELAYED ... AGAIN
Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel delayed a year. The official release date goes from October 2, 2026 to October 1, 2027.
Although the movie was originally slated to open on October 3, 2025, it was pushed back to October 2, 2026 around nine months ago. Reports back then attributed it to the aftermath of the dual strikes in the industry.
The Reeves’ first film, THE BATMAN was released March 4, 2022. The five year hiatus will be the longest any Bat-sequel has ever had.

Looney Tunes Volumes 1-4 Blu-Ray Set Review
Here they are in one mega set! All four of the recently released Looney Tunes Collector's Choice Blu-rays together at last. Across the four discs inside this release covers the golden era of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies with 97 remastered cartoons, all looking better than ever on Blu-ray in HD. All the great WB cartoon stars share the spotlight here, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, Tweety & Sylvester, and many more. There are over 642 minutes of fun here.
If you have read some of our recent reviews you know a lot about what you are going to get here. In short, this is the best you ever seen these animated shorts look and sound. While I appreciate the expansive selection of cartoons here, I really wish they would have been more concentrated to certain years instead of the hodgepodge represented here. I also wish there were more extras included in these bare-bones releases. Regardless, this set will provide viewers with hours of gut-busting humor.

VIDEO QUALITY 📽️ : B
With the 1080p resolution and 1.37:1 aspect ratio, this is definitely the best I’ve ever seen these animated shorts. It’s always a fine line Warner Bros. has to toe while restoring these older animated classics. Although scrubbing the video is somewhat necessary to present these cartoons in high definition, WB still has to make sure not to wash away the original film grain. A lot of people complain when too much film grain is washed away, but for me, it’s never a big deal. I always look for clarity and popping colors. Overall Warner Bros. has done another fine job with these volumes
AUDIO QUALITY 🔈 : B+
The DTS-HD Master Audio is solid for a simple 2.0 mono presentation. Both music, sound effects and dialogue are clear and compliment the picture nicely.
EXTRAS 📀 : D-
The only real drawback to this collection is the lack of extras. No digital download, no booklets and the only disc extras are a very small dash of shorts.
OVERALL GRADE: B+
The replay value of all these discs are extremely high for me. I still love throwing these classic cartoons in my Blu-Ray player on Saturday mornings and reliving my childhood again and again. Yeah, I’d love to have more extras, but I’ll eat up every release Warner Archive is willing to deliver. All four of these discs included in one set should make it a no-brainer for fans of the Warner Bros. cartoon library. I highly recommend this set as a fan myself!
