V tried his best to be his generation's Isaac

Even if he didn't succeed he absolutely tried his best

I call this look "Isaac dyeing his hair in the hopes of becoming Dracula's special boy"

or a hypothetical isaactor fankid like we're on deviantart

Also nice of him to rip off his corset like that. he knows his audience

I’m in tears. This is art. This is what should have happened after NFCV.

Reply: I am still a bit bitter that the backlash against NFCV has not been nowhere near this level (not counting the usual dickheads) (also tbf this parody has some jabs at nfcv lol)

but all my solidarity with the DMC fans and their pure rage because this is inspirational, this is art, and I’m crying here

Know that you're beautiful, you're my friend, and I'm proud of you!

Geniuenly think that castlevania designs as a whole would be significantly better if Not Everyone had light blue/gray eyes

Personally I wish only the Belmonts had blue eyes, because they're supposed to be a whole lineage. You could still play with the subtle differences, like Richter's eyes are a softer blue, Trevor's are more icy to look more intimidating, Juste's are outright grey because he's albino, etc.

You could have fun! Like, Hector can keep the grey eyes because it fits the silver hair, but Julia's could be violet, and Rosaly's could be brown. In AoS Soma seems to have brownish eyes that turn yellow once he awakens, that's also a good color that didn't need to be slowly shifted into grey. Older Maria with green eyes sets a precedent, although funnily enough it's a retcon from young Maria and it's noticeable in GoS - other characters who could have green eyes are Maxim and Mathias, since they too are green coded (also, green with envy in Maxim's case).

i dunno, I get it for some characters, but it does become ridiculous after a while lol. and don't get me started on the plethora of blonde women

Anyway allow me to remind you that this exists

Reply: My favorite mashup is this one:

But they’re all pretty similar, and all dimension-slapping.

I barely know you and I wanted to say I am proud of you. It’s so great to at you accomplished something good you e been working hard on as I seen you mentioning in some posts. You doing something great for yourself is just as good as whatever medals you end up winning, and it’s great attitude you have about it. Despite what others say to you.

Aw, I'm seriously touched that you took the time to write this 💖 thank you so much! I am proud of myself and I won't let anyone take it away from me!

every time i see a clip from That show it just. does everyone write like this now? like ur trying to tell everyone 'Hey guys omg this is just a stupid fucking show haha so unserious aren't we sooooo self aware isnt that funny'. God if you want to write a show/movie/anything put your whole PUSSY into it!!!!!! i wrote like that self aware stuff when i was like a young teenager so now it just comes off to me as immature almost

Hey remember when we thought that this was the peak of gratoutious swearing? Good times eh?

Reply: listen. at least Death swearing like a sailor is so ridiculous it makes us laugh :P

like it’s still stupid writing but you know, it has more entertainment value in a “so bad it’s good” way

anyway ndmc s2 should have mundus talking like this. and challenging lady to a swearing off battle. now that would make it 10/10

One of the funniest details to me about CoD's development is IGA explaining that he asked Kojima to redesign Julia to look more modest:

Originally her legs were bare, but even though she's a witch I thought that might be a little too erotic, so we gave her the leggings you see in her final design.

yeah sure. too erotic. her legs, mostly covered by her long skirt, would have been too scandalous. Someone please think of the children here, in this game full of violence and with a graphic stabbing scene!

thankfully curse of darkness is known for its tasteful designs, where in no way kojima proves to have a thing for long, thick legs!

well joke's on you iga julia's still hot

Sure is nice to bring home a silver medal won by the skin of my teeth, with nothing but determination, and being told essentially "yeah that's cool but you gained too much weight and you should think of getting thinner" 🙃

it's funny because my trainer yesterday told me he didn't like my attitude before the competition, I was too down to the point I was struggling through warm up. Yeah well, considering I knew I would be told "yeah cool but how dare you get fatter", no shit I was struggling to stay motivated.

And yet I did. My silver that I won by bench pressing more than my own weight, which I did purely by desperation, is worth much more than winning a gold against people who weren't even close to my level - it wouldn't even be fair to them. To me it was a victory, and right now I really don't give a shit about my weight gain. I'll lose it, sure, I've done so in the past, but I am not going to let it, and you, ruin my success because you're so sad you don't have a dainty daughter/granddaughter. Because it's all you care about, I know it.

I’ve been thinking on Andrew’s need to be normal and after reading Sunshine-Jesse’s latest essay I’ve come around to the idea that it’s truly not that important to him. Or rather, being normal in of itself is not that important to him, the attempts to do so are something he takes very seriously.

There’s a consistent method that Andrew uses to deal with his problems, and that’s disengaging, avoiding, denying, hiding away from it. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but taken to the extreme Andrew does it becomes a very big problem. As with most problems with the Graves, a lot of this can be traced back to Renee’s shitty parenting.

From his youngest memories, Andrew shows a predilection for lying and lying to withdraw himself. When his great Friend B talks to him about playing the Magic card game together, Andrew rather than open up in anyway lies about the reason he can’t play the game with him. He hides away and disengages rather than tell the truth and explain that his family doesn’t have the financial ability to support playing cards.

This is a continuous thread in the flashback as well, where when Ashley and Andrew deal with the Hag in their building his actions are to disengage and attempt to sweep any problems occurring under the rug. Andrew tries to make it so that if a problem occurred he feels no consequences and if he can manage it, make it so it “did not occur at all”.

When Ashley falls down and is covered in mud, Andrew goes to great lengths to hide this problem entirely. He does his best to make it so this is something his mom never even knows happened, when he could have just made up an appropriate lie and the situation would have resolved more favorably. But that requires a degree of being open that Andrew is near incapable of, not to mention allowing a problem to be brought to light rather than buried (burial hmm). It blows up in his face, which is something that happens to him several times through his life, from that incident in the flashback to him pulling away from Ashley when she was in the process of growing up, making them both tread a worse path.

So how does Normalcy fit in to this method that Andrew employs? Andrew sees “being normal” as being someone without problems. Someone who is normal is good, and by playing that part he doesn’t have to open himself up to anyone. (Interestingly, he never opens up to Ashley, but the fact that she is perceptive enough to see him in truth is something he very much loves. She even points out that others could see him too if he opened up, but he very much does not want that, would rather play a role and withdraw from that type of connection).

So to be normal in Andrew’s eyes is to remove himself from any danger to his inner self, and to remove any chance of problems occurring.

All of this also ties very heavily into Andy as well. Andy was not allowed to actually express himself, Andy was required to withdraw and only provide the appropriate assistance with Leyley. To grow past Andy for good, Andrew has to open up for real rather than keep pulling away.

I seriously wonder if Ashley and Andrew's grandmother loved them. I wonder if she gave them any affection while the grands were taking care of them for the first few years of their life. Leyley hated going over there and called their grandma "ugly", but that was the worst thing she could say about her. I can imagine their grandfather being an utter piece of shit and dissuading grandma from giving them affection, but in private she'd do her best to love them.

Weirdly enough, it reminds me of the Grandma Smith from The Glass Castle, the one who died and Jeanette's mom didn't even tell her right when it happened. The one who'd comb her hair and let Jeanette wear her perfumes and eat cream of wheat.

I can totally see Renee not telling the kids that their grandma died until it came up later and them being devastated, but Renee just shrugging it off cuz who cares.

She does say that she loves the kids while talking to their mother, but she also implies Renee would've been better off had she aborted them. When Renee points out said implication, Grandma gets visibly nervous and switches topics.

With this in mind, her giving Leyley the book the latter asks Andy to read her could also be read as less of an act of affection and more of an attempt to get the annoyance out of her sight.

Finally, she has her son's pink eyes. Given how apathetic Douglas was to and with his own children, I think it'd be reasonable to assume that was the case with his mother as well.

Characters serving leg is such an underappreciated category. Im not talking about anime girls wearing thigh highs and booty shorts i am talking about long legs and stylish pants the REAL good shit

Hashtag posts that may or may not be about hector castlevania

call me the cod cast the way i fell in love at first thigh

^ that was a typo. i swear it was. but i am not correcting it.

Can we count N!Lady's tragic childhood together with N!Dracula's death and Lenore's suicide as scenes mainly propped up by technical factors?

... actually, I think they got worse with time. N!Dracula's scene is powerful and him giving up due to the love for his family makes thematic sense, it's just that the writing wasted time it could have used for buildup regarding said love. Lenore's suicide is technically marvelous and the idea of a vampire choosing to look at their loved one rather than the sun is gripping, it's just that Lenore did nothing to earn that degree of sympathy, both because she's a loathsome worm and because she mostly felt sorry for herself because boohoo i would have to live less comfortably, not because "being a vampire means eternal suffering for everyone". But okay, sure, I get the idea and if you take them in a vacuum, they're superbly done and acted.

But in NDMC... uhhh you sure you want to go with "dad turned himself into a mindless violent monster, now imma be racist" when the previous episode you explained to us how those monsters are poor victims of war and racial discrimination? Again, do you understand what you're implying?

also it doesn't deserve this song in the slightest bruh what a waste of a banger

The scene in DMC3 works is actually more comparable with N!Dracula's death, in the sense that it's a child regretfully killing their evil father. And it works better! Because we see through the game what sort of manipulative snake Arkham is to his own daughter, calling her with her old name, and emphasizing that he's her father, they're bound by blood, and we see Lady hesitating to kill him despite the rage inside her because, well. Who would kill their parent in cold blood? Of course she would love to know that he had a good reason for doing what he did. By the end, Arkham is reduced to a pathetic raving madman who barely even tries to look good, and his death is half-thriumpant, because the asshole is gone and Lady got her revenge, and half-tragic, because it didn't give her the catharsis she had hoped for, and now she's just an 18 yo girl with her father's blood on her hands.

The buildup makes the difference. Players grow to care for her and her conflicted emotions, even if she's mostly an antagonistic force.

Going back to NDMC, why should I care for N!Lady the authoritarian violent racist cop, again?
